Frustrated Ok so our boys are still sleeping in the crate at night because they are not totally trust worthy and we sleep better when they are in their crate rather than by our sides. Anyway...they are right at 6 months and they have decided they can't sleep all night all of the sudden, they wake up barking and we feel obligated to take them out to pee. The last couple of weeks they have decided to get up at 3 am, 4 am, or 5 am. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them to sleep longer? The 5 am doesn't bother me but the 3 am wake up call does! We crate them together at night because we think they probably sleep together better than alone. Are they waking eachother up? Should be seperate them? I need help? |
Sounds familiar. Sophie sometimes wakes up during the wee hours in our bed when she hears deer outside our bedroom window or when the neighbor leaves for work. Normally we can gently scold her and tell her to lay back down and that works. Maybe they are sleeping too much during the day or need more exercise and just aren't that tired in the early hours. |
Well I have all 3 of mine together in a crate at night and every night they get me up from 12 to 3 am. So I get up and let them out ;) soon you will be able to go back to sleep at night (well not night.. morning) |
I guess I will re-phrase that! I would be fine with 12-3 am but the 4 and 5 are hard because like you said I can't just fall back asleep and when it is that close to time to wake up I usually stay up thinking I should. I hope you are right...I can't wait...I would let them sleep with us and try that but i think we would just worry all night..and I absolutely don't want them jumping off the bed! Also i don't think my cat would be too happy because she sleeps with us and they would jsut bother her...haha |
When our yorkie bichon was crated he slept pretty good, but after a while he'd sleep less and less and just whimper the entire night. We had a hard time with that because if he wimpers you don't want to react and take him out of the crate. It will just tell him "if you wimper, you will be let out of your crate." What we found to work is placing a sheet over the crate. Usually quieted him right up for the entire night. |

I have mine in my bed every night. I could not imagine rolling over and not having one right next to me. However, I do have them potty pad trained as well as outdoor. So if they have to go during the night, the use the bed stairs and they just go to the pad. That way, I get to sleep the whole night through. ......... Well, if you can call it "sleeping", what insomniac's do!! More like rolling around pretending your asleep!:rolleyes: Anyway, good luck .... |
