They are energy star rated and on its own digital thermostat that can be controlled with built in timer and temperature. Plus we heat with oil and were told that we will use less oil since this will help heat the room it is in. I was also told that if you put it on the first floor since heat rises you use less heat on the 2nd floor too. Our little yorkie is too small to leave out and about in the house when we are not home (I have a spiral staircase that I am very scared he could fall down unsupervised). I gate him in the kitchen when we are not home which has has a high window that will not heat the area where his bed is (he actually has 3 beds in the kitchen... LOL). I will keep you posted as to how much our electric bill increases. I am not too worried about it. Plus this increases the value of our home so even if we dont use it the value is there. |
I think its great. If your husband is willing to do it, no matter what he says, must mean he loves you a lot! I'm freezing right now and sitting with my portable heater at the computer. Heated floors sound pretty good to me! |
Oh your good. Your husband has no chance.:D I'm just thinking that a staple up Hydronic system would beat electric hands down and save you a lot of $$ in the long run. Guess it would depend on what type of system you have to heat the house with. Do you have a boiler or forced air? The floor heater you are looking at will not heat a room. It will only heat maybe a inch or more from the coil. |

It sounds great i love warm floors |
I am in the process of adding a room in my basement right now, well almost done actually. After that I plan to pull up carpet in puppies bedroom, living room and hall and put down either tile or hard wood. I am getting the thermal flooring system too. I have been wondering if any one on here had it. One of my friends have it in his home. He loves it, he even has heated mirrors in the bathroom. I know the floor in my kitchen gets cold on my feet, so I know my babies are cold too in there, but on a good note since they have inclosed the basement room (which is under the kitchen) the floor in there seems warmer! Let me know how you like yours, and I'll post feed back on mine too. |
