My Yorkie and the Cat Litter Box..... My Yorkie is one year old. We have come to stay for 5 weeks with my son and daughter in law and their 2 cats. Mr. Darcy seems to think it is his job to take pieces out of the cat litter box and leave them on the floor (usually by the door) - anyone know why he does this and is there any deterrent |
Sounds like he's trying to get the kitties to poo outside????? |
The deterrant - put the kitty litter box where he can't get into it.:D |
My solution for this (when we had a cat) was to get the Booda Litter Dome. It comes in different colours and is a great litterbox for keeping the dogs out. Booda Clean Step Cat Litter Boxes Available Online at PETCO.com |

Sounds like he is trying to get the cats to go out to do their job. LOL We have a cat with litter box also. Our ACD started "eating" out of it and my yorkie seen this, I caught her with her nose in it, so we bought a $11 childs gate to keep the dogs away from it. That cat now is getting his plyometrics in a few times a day which he needs. :) |
Mine uses a cat litter box as a toilet, so I'm happy when mine goes in it.:D It sounds to me as though yours has just found a new interesting toy to play with:D |
My dog gets into the cat box as well..I finally bought a gate with a separate little door that allows the cat to get in and keeps my dog out. |
I have cats also and I bought a large rubbermaid storage container. The ctas have to jump in and can't kick the litter out and the dogs can not get in it so everyone but the yorkies are happy. |
Yorkie in the litter box... Thanks - all good responses - I think what bothers me most is that for the most part I think of him as 'my baby' and this isn't fitting into this image!! |
