Light or TV ???
 
Do you leave a light on, or the TV on, for your pet(s), if you are going to be gone for a while?

We leave the light on at night, in the room where the doggy door is -- helps them to see better ;).

If we are going to be gone for most of the day, we leave the TV on playing Classic Country songs.

I have a light on a timer for when we get home later in the wintertime from work.

We leave a light on if it is going to get dark while we are gone.And sometimes we leave the radio on too.I found a tv station on my radio and play that for them,hehe.I also think it would sound more like we are home if anyone would think about breaking in.

I'm very happy to see that I'm not the only one that does the music and light! :) It has been proven that music does sooth the soul of animals also. Therefor, whatever music we normally listen to, they are used to also, and listening to that when we are gone, makes the waiting not quite as bad. How was that for a very long sentence??? :D

Well, I do teach English, but we are enjoying a snow day so "run-on"!:D
Music works wonders with human kids too! :)

Whenever I leave, we always leave the animal planet on the tv, and the lights on. It has always been a habit with me since going to college for my first degree. I went to FSU where Ted Bundy was going. Since then, I always have things on during the day for the pups, and at night. I never come into, or leave the pups alone, in a dark unlit house. It's just not safe.

Lights only

Rem reacts to sounds on the TV (doorbell sounds; that car commercial that has the dogs and squeeky toys; he knows the ESPN song) and these things cause him to bark... don't want him upset while we are out esp since we are in a condo

Duke gets Animal Planet sometimes. Normally if we are gone at night (or anytime) he'll just sleep by the front door which has the light on anyways, so no need for a light.

I always have the radio on when I leave, unless its the evening I turn the tv onto what we usually watch, so the sound is familar..And my lights are on timers for him in case we are late and when he sleeps with us..Lights are off...He can see in the dark...And he knows we can't lol

I always leave lights and the television on in the bedroom.......He stays on the bed while I am out....so the program he watches , he must like!! lol
It is definately not anything with monkeys or elephants though.....he goes nuts!! hahahaha :)

Can't even turn Nickelodeon on in our house when Sully is around. He especially HATES Spongebob Squarepants and goes absolutely NUTS when he hears the theme song "He lives in a pineapple under the sea....." We leave a couple of lights on and the TV. They hate when we leave them alone and I think keeping lights and sound going for them is less stressful and makes it a little more natural like it is when we are home.

I usually have HGTV on most all the time during the day. Since that is what Daisy is used to I leave the TV on that channel and turn the volume down a little. I don't leave a light on since I think a dim room is more relaxing and she will sleep while I'm gone. We're not gone at night much but when we are I leave the light on my range hood in the kitchen on so she can find the water bowl.

I have a light on a timer, and a radio on when I leave, that way they hear the radio all day and it helps to drown out outside noises that would keep them awake and barking all day and not keep them in the dark! :)

We leave the radio on. My friend got a CD for their lab mix and refers to it as "Rafi for dogs" lol :) If we got out for dinner or out at night we leave the light and the radio on for them.

We leave the tv on for Reese, and when we get home she is usually sleeping on the couch, like she feel asleep watching tv..lol
