Introducing Infant Hello. I have a four year old female yorkie. Typically she is a wonderful "furred human". The problem I came across today, she seems to have some dislike for infants. I don't know what to do, to adjust her to the infant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
Do you have an infant? If you do. I wouldn't push the baby on her, Give her time. Remember she was the baby and now someone took her place. |

I will be babysitting the infant. I have a 4 year old daughter, I guess I thought that Roxy would be alright with an infant. Infant's mother brought over baby today just to get acquianted(sp?) with my daughter and I would have never guessed that Roxy would have an issue. She barked and yelled almost the entire time. I don't know what to do.... |
she may also be scared of the baby. baby noises are loud and unexpected. i read somewhere you should take something the baby sleeps with (ie blanket) and introduce it to your little one. this way the scent becomes part of the household. hopefully you have a little time to do this. next thing you know, the baby will cry and your new "babysitter" will be all over you like it's time for dinner! "mom! mom! the baby! it's making that noise! mom!! mom!!" etc and i don't mean your 4 year old :animal36 |
She thinks the baby is going to take her place on your lap. It will take some time for her to warm up to sharing you, but with time she will see the baby is there to visit, and not to replace her. Good Luck! |
