Help!! It's a full moon!! Ok, so my yorkie is almost 12 weeks old, and this is full moon week. We have had him for almost 3 weeks, and this week, he has been a holy terror! I know he is a puppy and puppy's bite, but he gets full on crazy sometimes, and he will NOT leave my 3 year old alone. Every time Ian crosses the floor, Gizmo is attacking his heels. Of course, Ian thinks its funny... If we don't wear shoes, he attacks all of our feet, and he bites hard sometimes. I'm not sure how to break this behavior.. And of course, it's been worse this week. Any one else see a change in their puppies during the full moon? And Oh, yeah. He won't pee on his pads now either.. driving me nuts!! |
That's what puppies do. Bet he's not very old, is he? Use corrective behavior if you don't like it. Say "no" very sternly when he starts biting your feet. You might try setting him on his pad every so often and telling him to go. That's the only suggestion I have for you. Those puppy teeth really are sharp, aren't they?:D As for the full moon, I never made that connection. |
Our pup is almost 5 months old. She too loves to bite. However; I noticed it is worse when the teeth are bothering her. She is getting better. In puppy class that we just started teacher said to ignore her and walk away. Kind of hard to do when nipping at heels. I saw a gentleman at Petsmart a couple days ago with a 1 yr. old. He said they do calm down with age but if he were to throw a ball she would play full speed for an hour. You have to get pup through teething I think before the nipping lets up plus we say NO loudly. Who knows. |
haha, I don't buy into the whole full moon thing, but I do know that pups can be a terror! I got Joey when he was 12 weeks, and he was (is) a little stink when he wanted to be. Tank was about 18 weeks when we got him, and he's very low key, but when he gets riled up, he is a whirlwind of 4 lbs of fur and dog, haha. he's a little over a year now, but he's definitely got some of that puppy spunk still...so does Jo though, as he's about 20 months old. |
Kinda OT, but I heard on the news that tonight is the brightest the moon will be all year.Interesting...But no mine are just laying around tonight.Same as usual, lol. |
