New Yorkies At last - it has been 6 yr since our Krystal (Yorkie) passed away at 16 yrs old. For the last couple of years we have been waiting for the right moment to bring another Yorkie furbaby into our lives and knew it would happen when it was time now it has happened. A breeder who heard we were looking called and asked us if we would be interested in adopting a tiny pup (Her parents were 5 and 7 lbs and siblings were all twice her size) that would need a very special home with very special care. (We have had many other type furbabies over the years and are knowing as to what is required to raising a special needs baby) We discussed it and decided we had the lifestyle that would allow us to do so. Zoe is now part of our family at 11 wks old she weighs about 18 oz. Despite her size she is quite the little spitfire. Doesn't rest much and is always moving (we are keeping her in a playpen) she does pee-pee alot not sure if it is because she is eating more often - so will watch her closely. Her BM's have been good - no D's! We have her on a vigourous feeding schedule of Chicken baby food with a small amount of Karo syrup every 3-4 hrs. And she always has her dry or wet food available. She was being fed Science Diet and I have been doing reseach to find a better quality food. Any suggestions? We had blood work done she was a bit anemic. Her platelets were high and clumped. Alkaline & potassium were slightly high. Creatine slightly low. The vet said for her age and size the abnormalities were to be expected. Now for more good news we also adopted her step-sissy. Our Abby is 10 wks old and weighs 2.6 lbs after only 4 days can tell she is going to challenge us. We are so excited to have the Yorkie Love back in our Lives times Two! How lucky are we?!? And Very Blessed I might add! |

Congratulations and welcome to YT! Two :aimeeyork's! It is a blessing for them that you are able to bring them into a caring home. |
:) Congrats and welcome!! This community is great and I'm sure you'll love it! As for good food ~My Harley is almost 1 and she's on the Blue Buffalo small breed formula and it's great! I know that they carry a puppy food as well, but I haven't tried it before. I think several other's on here have so maybe you'll get some suggestions. I do know that if you want to try it, you can get a coupon off of their website. Enjoy your babies and have fun!! Post some pics when you can and show em' off!:aimeeyork |
