I don't know what to say. I found her listed at the breeder's website, with 3 others available for adoption for various reasons, mostly no longer suitable for their breeding program, I'm guessing. On their site they have pages on the history of Biewers and the Standard, and are members of the BTCA as is Ms Biewer, whom they are in contact with on a regular basis concerning the history and development of the breed, here in the USA. They are members of the BTRA, which is the only Biewer Registry that requires DNA testing to insure Biewer parentage. They list their names and phone numbers and promptly answer their emails. They show nationally and internationally, and state their goal is to adhere to the Biewer standard to gain acceptance to the AKC, and the betterment of the breed.
BTCA is not the only club or registry that requires DNA testing. And you would find that the other clubs' sites contain information and history along with their members' names and contact information.

Btw, the top male and female biewer in the country for showing last year...belonged to members of the two other biewer clubs.

It's great she's finding homes for her retired dogs...the method leaves a lot to be desired.

It's quite easy to see which dogs are being shown in IABCA. A show roster for every show is posted on their website.

The top biewers listed in IABCA for 2009 all belong to members of BAPPC.

The 2009 top dog in NAKC belongs to an BAPPC member. The top bitch belongs to a BBCA member. The other biewers on the 2009 list prominently belonged to BBCA members. Unfortunately John has set up a new website and previous year's information isn't available on line. You can contact him directly at

The top 3 Biewers in 2009 at ARBA (American Rare Breed Association) were from the House of Wagging Tails. The 3 Biewers qualifed for their Master Championships. And I am a member of the BBCA. Our placques and pictures are available on our website.

LDMops: Thanks for the heads up! I guess my main concern was and is when adding to my clan that I am not purchasing from a petshop or a puppymill. I know absolutely nothing about the Biewer clubs, but plan on doing more research in the future. After giving your post much thought, I don't think that any of this matters too much in this instance as I will be acquiring her only as a pet, and my main concern with her pedigree is not whether she is from a line of champions, but more that she is not a product of inbreeding, with emphasis on health related issues. And I can't deny her because she may be in the 'wrong' club. It's down to her needing a home, and my acceptance of her being an innocent life only wanting of love, food, and a place to lay her head at night, out of the cold, dark night.

I'll be back later this evening...

This has nothing to do with wrong club but a reputable breeder. If you are comfortable knowing you are going to someone who will do anything to sell dogs that is your choice and I am sure you are going to believe anything she tells you . I am sure Dago told you this. If you had done your research you would also know all the Biewer Terriers & Biewer Yorkshire Terriers are heavily inbreed from when they started in England then to Germany. The time to do your homework is before you buy a dog not after IMHO.
