Mouse Obssessed. The weekend just gone Alfie had asked to go out to potty, 5 minutes later he's trotting happily towards the house carrying a dead mouse, yuk! Naturally I took it away from him as I didn't want him eating it,theres a strong possibilty it was already dead from being poisened- theres alot of sheds around here. Now I'm not so sure, every five minutes he's asking to go outside and sniffing around our shed and under the decking obviously searching for more mice, and Rosie is joining him, she got a sniff at the mouse too. I'm all for encouraging natural behaviours but this could be a step too far. Can you tell I'm not keen on mice? |
Ha-ha! Reminds me a little bit of Muffin. I remember once in awhile a mouse would get under our air conditioner and she'd stand guard there forever until I dragged her back in the house.:D |
Alfie is just doing what he was breed for. Gross I know but you gotta be a little proud if he caught it. |

Exactly what I was thinking! :) I recently saw Dogs 101 on Animal Planet that featured the yorkie breed and of course, why they were originally bred. |
I only wish Muffy and Buddy would chase a mouse. About a month ago we had three mice running through our house. One night the mouse ran right infront of them  they looked at me like did you see that, get it mom. They looked at eachother like Im not touching that thing. I have two very useless :aimeeyork. :p |
lol Diane :) Every morning when I let Tia out she sniffs like crazy around the shed , dam sure some mouse or rat has been sniffing around lol |

Our Mia is also quite the mouser, she has gotten a couple of them. Last week she killed one on our back porch. She is so proud when she gets one:p |

After the shock of him actually having it in his mouth had worn off I was proud that he at least knew mice were a prey item. Watching both of them paste themselves to the door watching me remove it was really funny too. Unfortunately we have quite a few pidgeon keepers around here who regularly put bait down, so it had to be taken away. If he'd got inside it could have been a three way battle between two yorkies and a cat over who got the prize. It was more of a surprise as when we took them to pets at home before x-mas there were dagoos in a glass fronted pen at floor level and they didn't know whether to run away or hunt them. Hope one never gets into the house though, it could be pandamonium. |
Mice Rocky will bark and bark when he smells a mouse but I don't know what he would do if he actually found one! He has led me directly to where they have been but last year we saw a baby possum in the back yard and he totally ignored it! |
I just remembered that earlier this winter Kacee and I went out to the attached garage and I just saw out of the side of my eye that one went running out as soon as we walked in there from the house. Kacee looked at me quisitively,"What was that?":D |
