Not sure how to handle this...need advice... I have a 14 week old yorkie named Izzy...I also have a 18 month old Chihuahua named Twilight... When we first brought Izzy home last week twilight LOVED her and still does...They played and Played and played...But yesterday Izzy started to growl at Twilight and it's freaking twilight out...She went from play light to showing Izzy who's in charge...But Izzy does not let up one bit...It's almost like she's challenging Twilight...Twilight has not been fixed so could that have anything to do with it? (just to be clear, I do not let Twilight romp on Izzy at all cuz she so little but let me tell you what...Izzy vocal puppy...) Is this type of play normal? Or should I keep them seperated? or will this pass? Not sure what to do... I don't want Twilight to feel bad cuz there's a new puppy here:( But i knoaw izzy needs alot more care right now...Help me please..lol |
ok here is my input, as i have a chihuahua girl and a yorkie girl, chi 2 yrs yorkie nearly 1o months because my chi was there first i always gave her everything first, her food, her toys, picked her up first, you get what im saying, its like your yorkie is trying to put herself as top dog, and in my opinion all puppis in multi dog homes will do this. i also think a yorkies personality is much stronger then a chis so will push more. in my situation now its all level, and they know they get equal time and there is no fighting, dont get me wrong if there is a toy they both want there is a small scrap, but i just take it off them, im sure you will get better replies then this but this worked for me good luck |
Hi! I think that girls are prone to this, and they do have a the occasional 'I'm top dog' scraps. Just remember you are pack leader and if you know which one it is I'd put her in another room on her own for a while. Just a thought love. Good luck with them. |
I have two females, different breeds. My yorkie bosses my bull terrier around. She growls and barks at her if she doesn't like her running around the house or jumping up on the couch. I guess Lola is top dog to the dogs because my bull terrier always walks away or backs off if she hears her growl or anything. I also have a male yorkie and Lola lets him do whatever he wants. lol |

I have 3 females and 2 pick on the third now and then but they all learned to get along and will snuggle up together. Just give them some time and they should work it out. |

I agree, and if you don't know which one is guilty put each one in time out! Works in my home...I have two females who are snuggle bunnies most of the time; but once in a while they get into their little tiffs. I grab them immediately and put them in separate rooms for a few minutes...when they come out they usually have a new attitude. :) If they don't we go back in for a couple more minutes....works well here |
