Is it me??? Is it me or are yorkies more personalble, or attach themselves to one person more then other breeds? The reason I ask this is... My Nicky who is the yorkie, LOVES to cuddle, he follows me everywhere, if I use the bathroom he is right behind me, If I go get something to eat he is there.... When I am at my sisters he is the same way. Even though Nicky LOVES my sisters HUGE dogs, (she has labs) he still follows me into different rooms. I REALLY noticed it this past week only because my nephew brought it up. He asked me... "Aunt G, why is Nicky always with you?" I guess I was either used to my shadow or just never really thought about it... Even right now he is at my feet snuggled into his flese blanket snoozin. Not to take anything away from my other fur baby, who is a shih-tzu but he just doesn't follow me around as much as Nicky does Just wondering, what do you all thinnk? |
My Sasha does the same thing. I can feel her against my ankle as I walk, I don't even have to look...I can FEEL her against me. I work 10 hr days and she is home all day with my husband but when I call to say I'm coming home, she runs to the door and waits. One day, I called to ask a question about an hour before I actually got off work and she was sitting there waiting. She sleeps under the covers against me, sits under the table by my feet, takes a shower with me and yes, she's in the bathroom with me too. They just LOVE us, thats all. |
AWE Nicky does that too he sleeps under the covers and up against me too. He also is with me in the bathroom when I take a shower too. THey are just so cute!! Quote:

my Shelby rae and Kaylee both do that too..Kaylee actually belongs to my son but she is with me 24/7 since he lives at home and i watch her while he is at work and out...he's 25 so he's gone most of the time.... anyhow sometimes I won't get up to do things when they are sleeping because I feel terrible disturbing them..lol:) |
I wouldn't have it any other way, I had another dog before my yorkie and this is different for sure....he to hangs with me I can't get up without him checking out where or what I'm about to do and yes even in the bathroom he sits patiently while I read in the library...he he! He goes alot with us he we spent all day yesterday out doing errands, petco, lowes, he stayed in his bag while we went in and ate lunch, we have been doing this since we brought him home. gettng him ready for spring we travel alot to car shows. |
Yup, Tobie is the same way. He is the only one of my dogs that follows me everywhere. If all of us are in bed and I get up, Tobie can be in a deep sleep and will hop up the moment I move. However, if my husband gets up and walks out of the room, Tobie may lift his head and look but he stays with momma. He's just a momma's boy. |
Sophie isn't always with one of us, but she is normally not too far away. Jacie stays right there and follows one of us all the time. The only time he doesn't follow is when he's asleep and his preferred sleeping place is laying on my husband's clothes that were left out on the floor. I don't know how many times I've looked around for Jacie and found him at my ankles. |
Have two Yorkies that are attached to my hip. The 13 yr. old does selective following.:) She follows me more since I got Chipper. One of my Pommies doesn't allow me out of his sight. Chalk that up to his being taken away from his mommy at a very young age.....my guess is at 6-8 wks. since he was a pet store reject at 11 wks.:( and put into a rescue. ~Joanne~ |
That is why I wanted a Yorkie! Daisy is more attached to my husband so Ii wanted a dog that would be attached to me. I got the perfect one;). Pixie follows me everywhere and I love it. I call her my lil shadow!! |
My Hutch was my dog. He followed me everywhere and waited for me to come home from work until the day he died at 16 years. He lost his hearing around 15, but would stand by the house vents and sniff when it was time for me to come home. I came in through the garage, so he could smell when I was home even though he couldn't hear. He was still sniffing the vents the day he died. I could never hide from my family in my house. Hutch always gave them a clue to where I was. If I was in the basement, he was at the basement door. If I was outside, he was at the window. And he even had a bed in my bathroom. I miss my little shadow. :littleang |
Jasmine is my little love bug. Where ever I am, she is there also. Prissy, my toy poodle goes every where I go also. They are my girls. |
AAAWWWEEE these are great stories, LOVE reading them!! Nicky can be sound asleep in the middle of the night and will wake up, and sit at the end of the bed, and wait for me, then when I get back into bed he will snuggle up to me again. I am loving the attention that we give one another, I haven't had a dog that liked to snuggle and follow me around since we had our Mini Schnauzer. He sleped under the covers and snuggled too. I still miss him sometimes!! I sometimes think that it is a terrior thing, to be close and snuggly!! lol Here is a picture of my Eddie, who was my baby for 11 years.. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ddie9404-1.jpg He was a great dog!! |
Funny, my yorkies are not lap dogs, but love snuggling beside me. But yes they follow me everywhere...I to often don't get up if they are sleeping because I feel guilty waking them. My sister has a cocker spaniel who is the same way. He has to be in the bathroom with her too. Maybe it's just the loving attention we shower them with. :D |
They don't call yorkies 'velcro' dogs for nuthin ! Mine are velcro'd to my butt - one on each cheek :D it tends to get a bit hard to sit down sometimes :p:p:p:p |
My Dezi is exactly the same, He has been like this since the day I brought him home last July. He sits on the toe of my slipper if I'm standing at the stove or sink etc. It gets hard to walk around sometimes, but I love it. |
