When Hot Rod was a baby I didn't have the stairs gated off because I didn't thought he was too small to try, and he was but he didn't know that and all of a sudden I heard a thud, ran and found him scrambling to get up. I think he tried and fell off the bottom couple of steps. My stairs have been gated ever since. Maggie goes up and down with no fear when I take her up for their baths. with Hot Rod I am right behind him going up and coming down I place my hand on the step below and walk backwards in front of him ready to catch him if he should start to slip. I have hardwood steps with no carpet runner. Please be careful with your little one, it doesn't take much to miss a step and it could be disasterous. |
PLEASE be careful!!! Put a gate up asap. My dad has a 11 y/o poodle & a 10 y/o cat. When they were young my dad had a open deck which had rails with big gaps in between. In the mornings the cat would go out and jump off this deck. One morning Ginger the poodle followed the kitty right out and jumped off like the kitty. They heard and thud and they were afraid to look... Now don't ask me how because this was easily a 10 ft drop but within the time they could look over the rail Ginger was back up the stairs dancing around. So ya... I am gonna say no... No sense of height lol. Atleast poodles anyway. |
