Extremely large bladder or what? I don't know if this is a training issue or a health issue. I just moved and my new place doesn't have a fenced in backyard so I have to take Capone out on a leash to potty. He hasn't been using the bathroom at all though. He went #1 a few times but never went #2 until last night on my bathroom rug (I can't remember the last time he had an accident in the house). Sorry to be so descriptive but I feel like its important, it was a massive, massive heap of semi-soft poo. I couldn't believe it. Is he just too excited outside by his new surroundings? We've stood out there for over 30 min and nothing. Or is it something medical? Maybe a stomach problem that he held it until he couldn't hold it anymore? He hadn't done #2 in 2 to 3 days. Has anybody experienced anything like this? Additional info: He is on meds for bronchitis. Last night he spit up mucus like stuff twice (vet said probably from bronchitis). 1 yr old male. Thanks for any advice that could help! |
I would lean toward stress... but if it continues today (the holding it), I would consult a vet. |
Is he used to going potty on a leash? |
Could be he didn't recognize it as "his grass". It sounds funny, but we have a larger dog as well. When we go camping for the weekend sometimes it takes her from Friday when we get there until Sunday morning to do #2. Then we get home and it looks like we're housing and elephant. He should hopefully adjust in a few days. Otherwise I would have to say call the vet. |
He never had a problem going on a leash before, but he's been going outside without one for so long that it could be bothering him. Any suggestions on what I can do to make him feel more comfortable? I've tried standing in one spot so he won't get distracted and that used to work really well. I also tried letting him explore so he won't be so excited. I went home on lunch and let him out and still no luck. Other than this he seems to be adjusting well to the move. |
A few years ago we had to move into an apartment temporairly while our new house was being built. Our female wouldn't go on her leash so I had to run back to our old house twice a day. We then putup an "emergency" pen consisting of 2 x-pens put together and this solved the problem. What we don't go through for these guys. Also if he is on meds it could be from that as it usually wouldn't be soft if he was holding it for an extended time |
When we go to WV to visit family Callie will not go poo for at least two days so I think it has something to do with stress. |
