New w/ ?'s Hello, I am new to the community and I'm hoping to get some help and answers for some questions I have. My family and I are stationed in Germany in the US Air Force and we are soon headed back to the US. I have a Yorkie I purchased in Germany and I have his Pedigree document. I didn't bother to register him to a kennel club in Germany because we are not German and we were not going to make use of the membership. I want to do things right by registering my Yorkie with a kennel club in the US. I tried the AKC but because my Yorkie is not registered in it's country of birth they will not accept our application. With that said, does anyone have any info on what other option I have as far as registering my baby with a reputiable kennel club? I am also interested on learning about studding. I'm taking things one at time. I did much research on the Yorkie breed before purchasing and I spent much time with the breeder asking many questions. I met my Barkley's mom and grandma. They were both great in health and it was great to see that Barkley has great pedigree. Now what is the correct process in breeding as far me wanting to stud my Yorkie. I know it's best to have a registered pet and it's important to have a vet check your pet. I love my Barkley and understand the dangers of backyard breeders that is why I want to do things just as we do when we have children. Our children need birth certificates, socials, immunizations, etc. I believe in our pets getting the same treatment. |
Sorry I don't know on registering but are you sure about studding? You will have a male that will mark in your house and they like to take off on you any time they can. Their is a lot to know about breeding, are you a breeder? More to it then putting 2 dogs together. I'm sure others will tell you more. |
I am not a breeder. It is something that I have been thinking about. I have only done little research on studding. I'm still trying to figure out what to do as far as registering Barkley in the US. I have thought about studding him at least once in exchange for one puppy. I understand breeding is something not to be taken lightly and well I don't agree with just breeding any two dogs without doing much of a history background check or heath exam. Thanks for telling me about the marking. I'm going to read up on that. I have friends that stud out their cane corso. I'm going to ask them about that. Do you know if it depends on the type of breed? Are you a breeder? |
No all males will mark and the urine is stronger smelling. When I got Reggie he was just nurtured 2 days before I got him and his urine was a lot stronger then it is now. Took some time before all that testosterone was gone also. |
Welcome to YT! Enjoy! |
Also don't forget getting your little man fixed will also help with temperment he won't be super distacted with trying to mate with everything that moves |
