I really need your HELP! Ok my puppy was 3 months old when I got him and I have always been home with him. Now he is 10 months and I have to leave him during the day for work and he is acting so unnormal/BAD. In the morning he acts sooo sad like he doesn't want me to leave and when I do and come back I find my room almost trash and he has never done this before. How can I make him feel ok when im gone and let him know im coming back so he can stop cause he does it everyday |
He needs to be exercised before you leave so when you are gone he will sleep. Also, he shouldn't have free run of the house. Try gating off an area so he can't destroy everything :) |
Suggestions I have picked up in books and here on YT: 1) start by leaving your pup for short periods of time and gradually increase the amount of time (since you must go to work now, try this on weekends) 2) make sure he has chew toys, perhaps some hidden treats (something safe that doesn't require supervision) 3) don't make a big deal when you leave, or when you return; this will help reduce his anxiety and his anticipation of your return 4) turn on the tv or radio or calming music to keep him company |
