New Yorkie Mom ( pick her up on Jan 22 Anyone have any good guidance for me. It's been many years since I had my last yorkie and I feel like I"m starting all over. Any recommendations on how to bring her home. We will have an hour car ride. :) |
Guess the first thing I'd recommend is a carseat with a piddle pad, a blanket, water, NutraCal or Karo syrup in case there's a hypoglycemic episode, harness and leash. For home.....a crate/ex-pen (I like the ex-pen), washable piddle pads, Nature's Miracle, and a timer to get you up at night.:D Rule for holding pee.....1 hr. for every month old. Good luck and welcome to YorkieTalk. ~Joanne~ |
Thanks for your help. Never even thought about the Nutrical. Noticed that one of your Yorkies is named Cocoa. My last Yorkie was named Cocoa and died on my bed of a stroke while I was at work at age 14. |
Thanks for the info. Never thought about the Nutrical. Bunny |
Another idea is maybe ask the breeder if they can put a towel or a piece of cloth or blanket in where she sleeps right now. Then you can take it with you and she will have something familar to smell and lay with while she gets used to her new home.I also wrap up a icebag sealed in a ziplock that is filled with hot water(not too hot of course) and that makes a nice thing for them to snuggle with and keep warm. |
