Adding a second pup.... We are looking for a puppy as a companion for our 11 mo. old, Maggie. Is it ok to bring her to prospective litters and let her choose? Do you think this may aggravate breeders? We like the idea of letting her decide which pup she gets along with and wonder if this type of thing is normally done? Does gender make any difference? Thanks. |
I don't think a breeder would care if you brought your baby, as long as it's up to date on it's shots. Is also shows that you're looking for the happiness for your pup, and the new pup. |

It is a great idea, however make certain it is ok for the breeder. If your Maggie is not spayed , and you bring in a female in the house , their can be problems . I did not know this myself, however once my second pup became a little older we experienced agression issues . It was always the older oone , my yorkie who starts these fights too. My vet told me when I brough my baby in for shots . i had no idea their could be problems. the vet said a male and female get along better, however then, your still going to have to get them fixed. |
I would most definitely NOT allow anyone to bring another dog to my pups until they are finished with all of their shot. Your dog might be up to date on shots, but it does not mean that she would not bring something to the puppies. Also what if she snapped at the puppies and injured one. Just not a good idea. It's a nice thought, but most breeders would not allow you to do it. Never expose your pyuppy to other dogs until it has completed is shots. |
