Introduction Help for tomorrow I have talked tomorrow's introductions over with Emory's breeder but would like to hear from you guys on what worked for you when you brought home a new baby. I have a 7 year old Maltese (10 lbs) that is THE dog...or so he thinks so. My female yorkie is 6 years old (5 lbs) and is very sweet and submissive. Emory is 14 weeks, 2 pounds and very much a puppy. What is the best method for introducing everyone? Keep in mind I can't take them outside with all the snow here in Chicago so we will be doing the introductions in the house and in the evening. Thanks for your advice. |
Well this is what I was told to do and things went pretty smoothly. I had a 2 year old yorkie who I was going to introduce to the 2 new pups. I took them to a seperate location and introduced them slowly. The pups were in the carrier for a few minutes while I let my alpha doggie check them out. then I unzipped the carrier and let them come out one by one. My older one Belle just kept sniffing and then chased them around kind of in aw for a few minutes. After that they all got to ride together in the backseat....and so far so good. I was told do this because Belle was an only dog so I'm not sure if you would need to introduce them outside the home turf. |

Fingers crossed! Good Luck! I'm still excited for you! |
How about ... one dog at a time, start with the submissive one first, then bring in the top dog... keep calm and keep them in play mode... be ready to say aaaahhh (correction). Hoping it all goes smooth. |
