Hello Hi, I'm new to YT. I have 2 girls, Gypsi is 3 and Cali, her puppy, is 4 months old. Since we live in North Iowa & have snow & cold ALL winter, I am having trouble house training Cali. She will go if I stay out there with her but if I send her out on tie-out, she comes back to the door & absolutely refuses to go at all when the wind is blowing! Any ideas?:aimeeyork |
Hi & Welcome to YT!:) Mine are all housebroke, but when it is cold out, they won't stay long either, she will get better when the weather is warmer, I am sure. |
Hello and welcome to YT! It is so hard when the babies don't like the cold. My Lexi HATES to walk on cold ground, or wet ground. She's such a princess. |

welcome to YT! Have you tried pee pads? mine are pee pad trained and it makes it a lot easier for us :) |
It really does help if when you are able to take them out if you give them potty commands. Tuffy has gotten to a point I can take him out & tell him either go pee or go potty & he will go in a matter of a very few minutes when it's VERY cold. Just be sure to use the same words for what you want them to do each time. We use potty pads as well. Welcome to YT! |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! Just wanted to say that I have two girls, one inside potty trained and one working on outside potty training. After 9 months, I still go out with her, to make sure she does her business, especially when it is cold and snowy. She is getting better about this and I bet your pup will too. |
