Sophie Kate- The Sunbathing Yorkie All- Just a quick question, Sophie Kate loves to lay in the sun, I always thought it was because of the warmth and was perfectly okay. Well today she was stretched out on the guest bed pillow enjoying her Sunday sunbath and her Dad asked if that was harmful to her? I never thought about it being harmful but his question made me wonder. I know we humans are suppose to limit our exposure to the sun but what about animals? I know some animals live outside and are constantly exposed to the sun. Your thoughts or comments are appreciated. Meanwhile she shall continue her sunbath (I am kind of jealous she looks so content). Thanks, Cheryl |
Hmmm? Never gave that a thought!Mine does it all the time too.Hopefully not.My DH is having a confirmed skin cancer spot removed this month. So it is really on our minds right now! |
My two love to stretch out in the sunny patches when the come through the window. One of my other girls Hope[rip] was a real sun worshipper and would complain until you let her out into the garden , two seconds later she'd be on her back soaking up the rays. AS she got older I think it helped relieve any old dog aches and pains. |
Squamous cell carcinoma on a dog is caused from the sun exposure. |
Peanut loves the sun!!! You have to watch out when they are outside in the sun, b/c one time Pnuts head did get a little burnt!! |
Shouldn't be a problem inside, as most windows are UV-treated, but definitely limit the outdoor exposure because of skin cancer & cataracts. |
