crazy hyper? Question are all puppies wicked hyper? Pixie is so hyper lately and she has the shortest attention span ever. I try to work with her to teach her things, but it is so hard bc she wants to run all over the place. I was just wondering if it is her age 5 months. Sometimes at night I swear she acts like she is on caffine or something. lol my questions is are all puppies hyper? When is the best time to do training? |
My Daisy was born 6/9/09 and she is definitely still hyper! She has these little episodes that we call the 'zoomies.' Running back and forth, back and forth....I counted 23 times, once! I think this is totally normal puppy behavior, and probably not the best time to try to teach. The only thing we work on during the zoomies is a game of fetch.....the leave it/drop it command is what is most difficult. |
My two still have their hyper moments. I call it my yorkie tornado when they come rolling on through :) I don't work on too much training other than potty training until around 5/6 months because it seems easier then. Ours just turned 5 months and we just started with "sit". so far so good :) but the "stay" is going to take a bit as they do have short puppy attention spans. :) My first one, who is now 2 years old, trained pretty easily. I used special treats that I only gave her for training so she had something to look forward to and work towards and I also avoided training anything she seemed too spastic. Mid-morning seems ot work better for us with training. |
They really calm down about a year to 1 1/2 |
Yep. Drastically :) But when you introduce a new puppy the mix they seem to revert back. LOL Now that we have the new pups in the house (since October) my Belle seems to have the energy of a pup these days (well almost). :) :) :) |
Thanks for assuring me that my dog is Yorkie normal! lol I sometimes think she is on speed! We have had to rearrange the living room bc she kept jumping on the coffee table from the couch and sometimes she would miss and fall and I was afraid that she would hurt herself. We had to buy a new trashcan bc she jumps into the trash can in the kitchen. We had to buy a new gate already for the living room bc she jumped our 18 inch gate. So slowly we are Pixie proofing the house! lol She keeps me young!!:D |
Jasmine is a year old now and a regular little Diva. Before she settled down (she still has her moments) at times I wondered if I had bitten off more than I could handle. She was a live wire, she ran 24/7. Just watching her exhausted me. I dearly loved her as a puppy but, I love her darling little laid back Diva self even more. |
I am looking forward to the Diva side of her. I do love the puppy stage but she wears me out!! lol |
My Suzi is nearly 2 yrs old. She is very hyperactive . Especially when people come inside our apt . Suzi is all over them , and will not stop licking their faces, jumping, and in their laps ... She also loves playing with Miely , our little 9 month old Shih Tzu. Suzi is incredibley smart, but goodness almighty does she have a lot of energy ! :) |
