No One Told Me She is Half Greyhound! My fiance and I took Stella to the dog park yesterday...as we do on most Fridays. Yesterday, there was an Italian Greyhound (such a sweetie) in the small dog section and Stella and him decided to play a game of keep-the-stick-away and of course Stella being smaller was the one chasing trying to get the stick. I've seen Stella run before when we go to the dog park, but I really think she ate her Wheaties yesterday because the greyhound was running at near full speed and my little 5 lb. Stella was keeping up! It was really amazing to watch her run so fast. Everyone else at the park was also amazed at how fast she was. Not only was she keeping up, but she was outsmarting him by taking shortcuts (that's my girl ;))...she was so fast that she eventually got the stick and ran around with it for a few minutes with the greyhound chasing her! Then she came home and promptly slept for like 5 hours...lol. I had no idea she was SO fast! I know she has her long, pretty giraffe legs, but WOW. Has anyone else been shocked by their baby's need for speed!? |
she should run track! :) to bad u didnt get a video of the event. that would have been fun to watch! |
Yes, the fiance is dead-set on getting video next time we go. I think he was even more surprised than I was! |
Oh that's so cute! I can just picture it. |
That sounds so cute, definitely video next time!!! I am amazed that the the little ones can keep up with the big ones and even more amazed that the bigs ones do not fall over or step on the little ones while running.:) |
Sooo adorable! Jackson once chased a Greyhound as well and even though he didn't beat him, he kept up just as well. I would have loved to seen a video of your cutie! PS- oh how I miss the dog park. I go weekly too except in this cold weather! He's always sooo tired after the dog park and I've been having to keep him busy otherwise. lol |
:number1riYeah to your baby for beating the greyhound! |
Pips has never competed against a Greyhound, but when there is a ball or frisbee involved, she outruns every dog there! amazingly, even Jack Russells! She is a bigger Yorkie (12 lbs 2 oz), so a 5-pounder that fast is amazing!! The other Yorkies I see at the park have zero interest in playing. They just linger around their owners. I find this a little sad  Oftentimes, the owners have them decked out in ball gowns. Doesn't seem like appropriate playtime attire, but like I said, Pippi's a bigger girl and I don't dress her up. I put a t-shirt or sweater on when it's cool, but it's not my style to dress dogs as dolls. Yay for yorkies  :aimeeyork |

I wish Scruffs would do this more often. I love watching the little dogs go. There was this like 2-3 lb Chihuahua/Yorkie Mix who rode in style, with Doggles, while his dad rode a bike. Cutest thing EVER!! Anyways, it was SO FAST it kept up with all the other dogs, and it was so small. Scruffs is 7 lbs and it was WAY smaller than him. He likes to sniff dogs and only run when he knows the dog, little stinker. Definitely get a video :)! |

I got my Yorkie when he was 8 weks old and he loved to play from the moment we brought him home. His fav. is a full sized tennis ball, never liked the little ones, and anything with a squeeker in it. He runs like the wind and would probably be good at agility. He has so much energy. He is also a nut with loads of personality. |
Our guy likes to play with the cat, much to her chagrin. When I look out of the sliding glass window that leads to the backyard, I will see her remaining stationary while he appears from the right, then to the left of my limited view. His paltry girth and little legs just a blur. I cannot believe how fast that little turd can be...:) |
