New to the Forum Hi all, I am Gina I am new to the forum. I have a 12 week old female yorkie, named Dolce. I also have an 8 year old male toy poodle, named Clifford. Clifford just tries to stay away from her, they growl at each other mostly Clifford growls, she barks at him like she is not afraid of him one bit. They are funny to watch. I tried to do a search on her pooping issues and was overwhelmed by all the different posts. So here are Dolce's issues. First she was constipated and had trouble going. I would have to assist her and then clean her up (big mess). I gave her some wet food mixed with her dry food (IAMS puppy food). Then her stools became too loose and would just pour out watery. So I stopped the wet food she has been on dry only for about 3 days now and her stools are wet and soft and messy. I swear I have to give her bath every time she poops because it all over her fur around her butt. She also poops in her kennel every night and I stop giving her food and water by 6 pm. I take her out to go before I go to bed at 11pm.I have stopped giving her treats for awhile to see if this helps. She can't go to the groomers until she has all her shots. So I can't really have her fur cut back around those areas, and I would be afraid to do that myself. I love my baby girl but right now I am on poop and bath overload. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
Hi Gina and welcome to YT! Iams is not a very good food. I would switch her to a better food, gradually mix the Iams and another brand together and wean her of the Iams. It doesn't take much to give her a sanitary sweep until she gets to the groomers. I would have someone hold her while you do it the first time. How long have you had her? |
I have had her for 3 weeks, She does like Clifford's Science Diet Food, but I try not to let her eat that because it is not puppy formulated, it is for mature dogs. We just gave her a bath and my husband and son helped clip the area up, so we will see if this will help resolve the messy situations. Do you think she will continue to have bowel movements in her kennel? |
I just wanted to welcome you to YT.Maybe she has too much room in her kennel. If they have too much room they may use some of it as a potty area and the rest to sleep in.Make it smaller with cardboard if that is the case. |
:wavey: Welcome to YT , I am sure this will all work itself out , dont stress yourself out . Your new furbaby can feel your stress. Trying a new food might be a good start. I have a 16 week old and she had issues last week w/ the runs ( yikes ) took her to the vet and they said to try Purina EN which is a very mild soft food . Just for a few days until the stools are better. Keep us posted! |
