I have yet to find one that a small pup could not wiggle through. I use Dream Baby gates...they have an extra tall ( I have a jumper) and they do have a nice swing door in them. They come in white or black. I bought a similar one in Petsmart and it was WAY too wide. I have yet to find anything that beats Dream Baby. You can get that plastic mesh that is sold at Home Depot....I think it is for chicken fences. I cut a piece to fit the gate and then tie wrapped it on. If you get the black fence and use black mesh, it looks very nice and keeps the smaller pups secure. |
that must have been really scary. Glad everything turned out okay. I was worried that my two would freak when I put a collar on them but they didn't give it any mind so we only put it on during big event outings. |

I use free standing gates for around the entry way.....there are some really nice looking ones....that fit into your decor. Baby's R Us has them too. My show dog tags are kept in my grooming bag, along with their shot records and pedigree papers. And I do put their tags on their harness. SandyAPK makes some nice harnesses.....for the boys....lil vests and for the girls she adds skirts.......Makes them according to your dog's measurement. I have her make each one of my pups when they're ready to go to their forever home. |

A friend of mine uses these in her puppy day care. When I saw them, I scrapped the ones I was using and purchased these. They are the best I have seen. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ream+baby+gate |
:thumbup:My sister in law used Dream Baby gates. She has a solid like this: Walmart.com: Dream Baby - Retractable Gate: Health & Safety and the tall metal for the stairs. They are around $50 at WalMart. |

what we do is put their dog license tags on their leashes. That way we can use any collar or harness we want when we go for a walk. We don't keep collars on the dogs in the house - unless company is coming over. The break away cat collars work fine - make sure you get a small and narrow enough size for your boy. |
Pippi is 100% obedience trained, and yet, I never, ever, EVER would take her outside (unless it's a fenced in area) w/out a harness attached to a leash! It's too easy to be lured away by a meandering duck, or a taunting squirrel (LOL - happened yesterday). There are too, too many things to distract your pup away, and even recall training isn't ever 101%. If Pippi were to run into the road, simply b/c I could not be bothered to put a harness and leash on her, I'd NEVER forgive myself. I saw a cat die a slow, horrid death when I was 10 y/o or so, and to this day, I can hear it's screams. It KILLS me. I'd have traded places w/that cat if I could have. Was awful. Awful. Just put the harness w/the tags on the D-ring and put it on when you guys go out :) |

All of my animals wear collars with their id tag attached. The id tag says :" I am Lost", with our telephone number. Even our indoor cats, who have never been outside in their whole lives, wear a collar for the reason being that if they were to ever get outside, someone would hopefully read the tag and phone. When my yorkie Maddy was just a puppy, not long after we got him, he was in the back yard playing. I had just let him out, and maybe five minutes later I received a telephone call from someone who said they had my Maddy. He had gotten under the gate, and had wondered a few door down. I shudder to think what could have happened to him if I hadn't have had that tag on him. I do not feel safe for them not to have their collars on! If their collars are adjusted properly, there shouldn't be a problem with them getting caught. |

Happened to Cody the 2nd or 3rd week of me having him. It was so scary, happened again once when I thought I would leave it on him while I was at school, big mistake! When I came back, I didn't know how long it was like that but I imediately took it off. Ever since he only wears harnesses when I walk him only. |
How scary! I've never had problems w/ collars but it's definitely something to be concerned with. He wears a collar 24/7 with his tags but we walk him only on his harness. Better safe than sorry in my opinion. Growing up, we had a few dogs wander onto our street and without their tags/collars, we wouldn't have been able to return them. |
