Although my sweet boy isnt a Yorkie, he is a Maltese, I treat him like he is human lol...or so my family says :) The other day while eating dinner, Rylie was jumping and scratching at my leg and I said no "son"....my husband looked at me like I had lost my mind lol......My kids say I love him more than I do them.....lol.....I tell them that Rylie listens better than they do ha ha. I love this little dog to pieces :) |

It is probably their size and their robust personality that makes them so irresistable. Most of my friends are animal lovers, thank goodness, so we often have true confessions about our fur babies! |
I feel the same way about my girls! I just look at them and think I can't believe they are mine!I love them so much. And I feel the same way about the one that isn't a Yorkie too! They are my babies now that my 3 skin kids are grown. |

plus i have loved furbabies my whole life so it is very easy to just dote on them now, my son also tells me that i like the dogs better than him and on a few occasions i might have :D |
Normal?!? Who needs to be normal?!? Well, Ike is my everything. I look at him and I see my baby. People think I am crazy, but I do not care. My husband is treats him the same way! We say we were labor for weeks - because it took us so long to find him LOL. He has changed my life. Yes, he is spoiled :animal-pa |
Michelle, Thanks for starting this thread. I have enjoyed reading all the replies so much. I'm going to start a new thread on how much I love this site. :) |

Same here! :) Missy has made my life so much better!!! I see her and I don't see a dog. I see a little piece of heaven I get to have in my life :) |
Nope! You're normal! Too many of us feeling the same way as you. Just don't expect most people around you to begin to understand. Just deal with it, & go on with your life. We know what's real & they are the ones missing out. Enjoy! |

I totally feel the same way about Bailey, when i look at her no matter what she is doen I just love her so much just like my skin son who is home from college and yes he also thinks I am a crazy dog lady too! |
Same feeling here! We have had our little Sunny (4 year old puppymill rescue) for a little over 2 months now, and we are so totally bonded with her (my daughter and I) that we talk about it almost daily! We can't get over how much like a sweet little baby she is. (She actually lays in my arms like a newborn and closes her eyes. I'm not sure I'd tell that to too many people, because I know they would think I'm a little off. But I know you all understand.) I can't believe we went so long without a Yorkie! Pam in Missouri |

Yes, I too am captivated with our Sophie. Sometimes I just hold her and marvel at her sweetness. Yorkies are such loving little ones and willingly give back all the love they get ten times over. Everyone has expressed their feelings so well that I could "quote" you all. :animal-pa |
Normal........my dogs are my children as well as my human children I love them just as much. |
omg!!!without lexi,, i feel i have nothing to live for. SICK HUH??? THATS JUST THE WAY I FEEL.. |
This is my first post, but it is good to hear someone say how much they love their Yorkie. My little girl Mitzy is one year old and I love her so much. I worry about her all the time and I kept thinking is this normal? Thanks so much! Also I want to say thank you for all your great posts, you have answered a lot of questions for the first time yorkie mom. |

WELCOME TO YORKIETALK Oh, just noticed you joined some time ago...glad you posted :):welcome4: |
Well I have no clue if it is 'normal', but it appears you are definitely in very good company - myself included ;). I actually thought I was the strange one feeling that way and attributed it to not being able to have children.... low and behold - that had nothing to do with it  Sooooo, if mental health appointments need to be made, I wonder if they will take group appointments... very LARGE group appointments :D |
I wish more people thought like I did... I see both of my boys as more then "Just Dogs" I infact am getting sooo tired of hearing that. Whenever I talk about them, or act toward them I always hear from someone, "Ange they are just dogs." I am like yea does that make their lives anymore less important? My family wants to go on vacation in April and I am torn with what to do with my boys. The last time we went away Rocky was a bad boy and spraied all over this ladies house, he has since been fixed so I hope that doesn't happen again. I doubt I would use her again, she would probably see my phone number and run screaming from the phone, lol. But my babies mean the world to me and since I can't have childern they mean all the more to me. Thanks for starting this topic I love it!! Quote:

You are not alone!! :) :) |
OMG I feel the same way. I saw this thread earlier today at work and I just wanted to shout but my co workers would not understand. Jersey is the sweetest boy ever!!!!!:) |
I feel the same way about my Fancy..Believe it or not my husband that didn't use to like dogs calls her his baby..lol!!!!:D:D |
You are certainly not alone.:) I refer to Maddie and Cooper as 'my girls' when talking about them to anyone else. I have embarrased my mom many times when I have to tell someone they are Yorkies if she is out with me and I mention 'my girls'.:p I have gotten used to the "You're crazy lady" looks. That's what they are to me, not just dogs, thier my baby girls. I once told my co-workers when they wanted to go somewhere after work "I have to go home and let my girls out." One lady thought I was talking about...uh...my other girls (b**bs!) haha We still laugh at that one. |
150% NORMAL!!! I feel like there is no number that can measure how much I love my Lucky!!!! My DH loves him too ....but I 'LOOOOVEEEE' him........I keep telling myself that it's going to be a sad day ....the day my baby has to leave me forever! I really don't know how people cope with losing their babies!!! :( |
I loved reading everyone's posts!!!! This is exactly why I love YT!!!! We all connect with each other because we all feel the same about our babies!!! I have to share a quick story, earlier this week I took my 17 yo daughter to open a checking account and took Bijou in with me...well one of the tellers comes over to us and says, "Oh, I see you brought your pet." I was so offended by this statement. I've never had someone call her a "pet" before. I covered Bijou's ears and said to the lady, that she was not a pet she is my baby. The tell looked at me like I was insane and I eyeballed her back daring her to make another comment. Which she didn't :D The lady that helped us open my daughter's account was so sweet to Bijou, she told her all about her bull mastiff and how much she loved her baby too! Seems we all connect when we're true animal lovers :p When I left there, I took Bijou into our city hall building to get her city license...I thought I dare them to kick us out, after all we're paying for her license. To my surprise they all loved all over her. Thanks for the fun thread!!!! |
I want to thank each and everyone who posted to my thread. I knew I loved YT and this is one reason why. You are all so sweet and I feel so much better knowing I am not alone in the way I feel. You are all so awesome:) |
