Ill Yorkie I am new to this site. Looking for answers. Today my little 8mo yorkie became sick fast. She was fine this morning, but within an hours time, she was salavating at the mouth and tremoring. Took her the vet and she vomited on the way. The vomit was clear with bits of recent dogfood. The vet said her glucose was high but everything was normal. Her pupils did not respond well to light. They have her on an IV to flush out anything that she may have ingested. I will be getting her later. There is no indication of anything in my house that she would have gotton into, but chocolate. I found a candy wrapper in my child's room. She never goes in there. My young child said he ate it, but I am still wondering if maybe he ate some and left the rest. I still have no idea. The vet said chocolate could have done this. hummm..Now its a waiting game. We have only had her for 2 weeks. Always in a kennel where we got her. Shes not pottytrained yet, so I am working on it. Just praying for our little Sadie to recover. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! You have done the right thing in contacting your vet right away. Sometimes they do ingest something they shouldn't and it can be terrible waiting for them to return to normal. Sending prayers Sadie's way and good thoughts, too. Keep us posted on how your little girl is doing. We would really like to see her photo:). |

Sorry to hear about your little one. Hope everything goes OK. Welcome to YT! Lots of info here. |
Picked Sadie up from the vet. What a transformation from this morning. She looks so much better. They kept the IV in her little leg and told me to bring her back in the morning. Never really knew what happened. I am still suspecting the chocolate. We will see how she does tonight and in the morning to determine if she will need more fluids. So grateful she is better. I was so worried. Glad she's home and she is too. |
I'm so glad she's back in your arms! I'll be praying for her quick recovery. Please, keep us posted on how she does. Welcome to YT!!! |
Phew...what a relief!! I'm so glad she's okay!! |
So glad she is doing better and thank you for the update. :) |
When I first got Lexie she kept getting sick, like poisoning. We went through this about three or four times and each time she had to stay a couple of days with an IV. She had an elevated liver count which indicated she had been poisioned. I googled my whole back yard and found a bush that was very poisonous. I checked the leaves and found that they had been chewed on. I pulled up the whole bush and got rid of it. Once I realized that Lexie was part goat I watched her every move in the back yard. She has had no more problems. Good luck with your Yorkie and perhaps he or she is part goat too! |
Do you have any houseplants? There are a bunch of them that are very toxic. Aloe vera and poinsettia are the first two to come to mind, and puppies are just like human babies....everything goes in the mouth. Glad she's feeling better |
I am glad that your little one is feeling better. |
Glad she's feeling better. Mine act like cows! Grazers...:D |
