Freaks out for no reason? Penny sometimes suddenly gets scared of my husband for no reason at all. This just started about a week ago. Last night, for example, we were watching a movie and she was snuggled between us on the couch. Terry got up to get a drink or something, when he came back to sit down Penny started shaking really bad and tried to climb me to get away from him. He kept talking sweetly to her and tried to pet her but she just climbed over my shoulder to the top of the couch and then got down. Terry is so sweet to creatures, that he even catches scorpions and lets them go outside. He once rescued a mouse from our outside dog and tried to syringe feed it for two days before it died. He doesn't yell or hit anything, there is NO reason for her to shake in fear of him. Has this happened to anyone? Did the dog finally quit this? We are not in the dark when this has happened the 3 times now. She is fine an hour or so later. Each time she has been snuggled with us and then suddenly looks at Terry like he is a monster and shakes really, really bad. He doesn't force himself on her, but just talks sweet and moves away so that she doesn't get more freaked out. |
Wow, I don't have any answers for you. I had a semi-similar event with Jackson a few weeks back. One of my nightstands fell over, lamp and all, and for over a week... Jackson was terrified to be in my room. It didn't fall anywhere near him or anything, but he saw it from a distance. I would bring him into my baby gated room like usual and he was shaking freaking out trying to jump over the gate! He did this for a week and would finally calm down but would crawl under my bed.... it was odd and I just had to let it run its course. |
That sounds odd doesn't it. I would recommend having hubby tossing her some favorite treats when she starts acting like that to see if he can coax her out of it. Maybe even when she's acting fine too. Maybe she was in some state of sleep & his movements startled her. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing. |
I feel bad for your husband! He sounds so caring towards animals, it must break his heart. Where did you get Penny? Could she have had a bad experience with a man before she came to your home? |
