How do i get the ears up? Ok. so my new puppy ears are still down but i see that if i put them up, they stay up then go down again. How do i make them stay up for good?? |
First congrats!:) I bet you are so excited... How old is she? Have you tried shaving them? |
How did it go with meeting her breeder today? I bet you were super excited when you saw your newest baby! :) As for her ears...you can shave and then tape the tips. I shaved a little when Livi's baby was young, but not too much because it made me nervous. I ended up using scissors to cut the hair on the ears, both front and back...and I also taped them. Can't wait to see her pictures. |
Here is a thread that give some good ideas on getting the ears up: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...s-up-down.html |
Thanks! Meeting the breeder went great! I can tell she is a great breeder and really loves her dogs. She was really nice. :) Oh and she is 10 weeks, both her parents ears are up so..im thinking maybe their just taking long but i dont want to wait too long and then they stay down |
10 weeks is pretty young for her/his ears to be up. You can tape them--and even then they sometimes go up/down during teething. Keep them shaved and that helps! |
I got my baby and at 10 weeks his ears where not up either but they are now so just wait be patient. They will get perkey! good luck |
Gracie's ears weren't up that early either but they are now! We didn't do anything special just patience. I bet yours will be to! |
Nibbler Nibbler is 14 months old, his left ear is always down but it dosen't bother me it just adds to his cuteness!!!:) |
My Callie's ears were up one week and down the next until she stopped teething..I have read that has a lot to do with it. I kept the fur on her ears cut very short during that time (almost shaved) and that helped a lot too. So a few questions...i don't really get it...how do i shave them? What do i use? Also what type of tape do i get and how do i do that? I see pics but i dont understand how to do it exactly..won't the tape bother her? |
I just shaved Pixie's ears so that there was no hair hanging off them and I shaved them 1/3 down the ears. I never taped them and by the time she was 5 months they came up. She had 1 ear up at 4 months and the other ear a month later. There are pictures online on how to shave them and how far down to go. Be carfeul bc they move like a dickens when they first hear those clippers. |
2 Attachment(s) So I managed to tape her ears up. Not sure if I did them right. I didnt shave them either |
I would have shaved them and not worried about the tape quite yet. She's still very young(and cute as a button). |
I was going to shave them but I don't have clippers..and i was afraid to hurt her as she moves A LOT! lol And i heard the hair takes long to grow |
