Saw a worm and freaking out! I got my puppy at 14 weeks and breeder said she had had two rounds of worming , took little Philly to the vet Monday of this last week and she got another round of boosters and she just pooped and I saw a gigantic worm in it ...does this mean she still has them ...or that they are leaving her system now...I am so freaked out..HELP! |
take a fecal sample to the vet, and they will know if he has more and if he needs more medication, do you know when was the last time he got dewormed? |
I think thats one of the shots she got on Monday at the Vet |
It could be a tapeworm --- OTC dewormers usually don't take of tapeworm. Take a stool sample to your vet, and they can fix you right up. Once a dog is treated for tapeworm (shot or pills) the worm is usually digested so that you never see it in the poop. A live, untreated worm will shed segments that look like grains of rice, and you will sometimes see them wiggling around in fresh poop. Don't worry, just bring in your pup and it is an easy fix with no side effects. If it is tapeworm, they get it from ingesting an infected flea, so be sure that you don't have a flea problem and get your pup started on flea preventative. |
