Take a look at my baby and let me know! Hello everyone, I posted a thread similar to this a couple weeks ago, but I just got an updated picture and I figured I would ask again. My little girl is about 18 weeks old, and to me she looks really scraggly. I am no expert as this is my first Yorkie, but I was wondering if anyone on here has a baby close in age to her, or remembers what their baby looked like when they were this age? Are they supposed to look like this? I hate to sound shallow in any way (because I love her so much already and I don't even have her yet!) but for what I'm paying I want the best looking dog I can get, coat especially. I have four pics in my album of her, starting when she was around 10 weeks up through now. Please let me know what you think... |
2 Attachment(s) She is at an in-between stage where her coat is changing colors so she looks kinda scraggly. Couver looked somewhat similar when his color was breaking through. He now looks a lot different than he did as a puppy and is much more handsome :) |
1 Attachment(s) Oh she is still precious. I am sure it is just a stage she is going through. Here is a picture of my Lexi about that age. Diet, shampoos, etc can have a lot to do with it also. |
Maybe your little girl will have the thinner, more oily, straight and shiny coat, rather than the fluffy, tangly, duller, teddy bear type coat? I guess it depends on which sort you had your heart set on. She looks really cute anyway. |
I just love that picture of Couver snuggled up with the cats! |
1 Attachment(s) I dont think she looks straggley but I do think her front paws appear as though they have lost alot of fur!! I have a cottony coat puppy so Im not sure if that is just normal but I know the golden color on her front paws continued to grow and get fluffy , your dog appears to have alot of thining which may be totally normal , she is soo cute, Congrats!!:D Attachment 303619 Laci 16 weeks |

It looks like she may have a silkier coat that may be slower growing but easier to take care of. She's very cute! |
If I were you , I would have her vet checked before deciding on taking her. Just to be on the safe side. A lot of things could be contributing to the way her coat looks. Her enviroment, diet, allergies , anything. If your unsure about your new puppy , and feeling uneasy than certainly have her vet checked and cleared , on her physical health. |
My puppy Davinci is 18 weeks old also (born August 15). He looks exactly like your little girl. Davinci's Mom and Dad both have very silkly fur and it looks like he will too. I'm sure it's the same for your little girl. We jokingly say that Davinci is going through his ackward preteen stage. LOL. Most yorkie puppies go through what I call the "ugly" stage as they begin to transition from puppy coats to adult coats. Be patient and before you know it, your ugly duckling will be a beautiful swan. I will post a pic of Davinci as soon as I can. |
