Why is she suddenly doing this? 3 Attachment(s) My mom got me Monica almost 3 weeks ago. She is 3 yrs old and 5 lbs. She is a doll and omg she is such a FLIRT!! lol She loves my husband and my hubby is a total mush when she jumps on his chest and with her paw tilts his head and starts licking his chin. She will cuddle her face on his neck and stay there. Ok that is not strange lol. But we have been sleeping with her since she came home. She likes to sleep by my knees or next to hubby. Lastnight she kept jumping over my husband's legs to sleep with him. Well My husband said "Monica go with mommy because I move too much at night" She kept going to his side. I got her, started cuddling her, caressed her hair for a few minutes. As soon as I stopped she ran around me and jumped over to the doggy steps and ran into a crate and stayed there! She has a pink fluffy bed in there and I was planning to start crate training her but was afraid she would cry. Well she just stared at me like saying "It's my way or the highway" I walked over to the crate and told her "Ok , you wanna sleep in there? I slowly started closing the crate to see if she wanted to get out but she just put her head down and stared at me like saying " Well ? Close the door!" I closed it and went back to bed. She slept the whole night in her crate, did not make peep at all. Even at 10 am , I walked over to her and took her out to potty. Tonight, she was in bed for a while and around 12 midnight, she went down the doggy steps and went to her crate... i would LOVE for her to sleep with us but I dont want to force her. My hubby has his Yorkie Angel that sleeps in the bed also and she was just fine always taking turns sleeping next to my leg or my husband's leg. Why do you think she decides now she wants to sleep in her crate? It is a pretty comfy crate. Its the metal black one, has a pink super fluffy bed in it and there is a light fabric cover that goes over the crate but she has a clear view of the front. Gen |
Maybe this was the way she slept in her previous home? Maybe she finds sleeping in her crate to be comforting... Dogs are den creatures, so this is not too odd at all. I wish mine would sleep in his crate without a fuss... we have two cats and Couver that all sleep on our queen sized bed at night... It gets pretty crowded! :p |
I am guessing that she slept in her crate previously. Their crates are their safe places. I am not sure if mine would sleep with us as they've always slept in their expen at night other than when we fall asleep together on the couch in the evenings but then they go into their pen at bedtime. |
i wish mine wud sleepin a crate lol we have 3 in the bed.what a squeeze, ur little baby is gorgeous, she remindsme off my little girl beau, only ur one has long coat, tiny minni wee face , dont ya just love them:D |
She is SO cute!!! :D |
I guess she feels safe there, but really I just wanted to say - "What a cutiepie!" x |
Perhaps she just wants her own space or she might be getting hot on the bed. I think its a good sign that she feels safe and secure with you that she is happy to sleep in her crate. I would see it as a good thing. |
Hi what a cute baby! I think this is how she was trained by her previous owners. I adopted a three year old too, and I wanted to have him sleep in the crate, but his previous owners let him sleep on the bed. Guess where he sleeps now! LOL :D I tried to get him to sleep in the crate and the crying just got to me too much! Good luck with your new baby:aimeeyork |
What a little precious doll!! aww she is just adorable :p We just got zach on sunday and he is all over my fiancee! He sleeps next to him at night and any time my fiancee is laying down, Zach is with him, like right now! :D:D |
Our larger yorkie did the same thing. He use to sleep with us but would wake us up to go outside to the restroom. He would go back to his crate after he was outside. I begin to catch on that he was wanting to go to the crate and not necessarily outside. He was more comfortable in his crate. I think some dogs just like their crate. |
What a sweet little face, she is so cute... I crate trained Copper and now he prefers the crate even though now I let him sleep with me. He loves his crate, it is his little place that no one can bother him. I am guessing that she was crate trained too and that is where she is most comfortable sleeping. |
Your baby is adorable! Maximo preferred sleeping in his x-pen next to my bed until he was 12 months. I was willing to give him his freedom, but he insisted on the gate being latched shut. I agree with those who posted above -- your lovely little girl is probably accustomed to sleeping in the crate. |
First of all she is just adorable! One of mine spends half the night in her open crate by choice and often takes naps in there. I think some just fell safe in there dens. |
Bailey won't have anything to do with a crate at all BUT he will start off sleeping with us and then as soon as someone moves the wrong way he gets all "upset" and jumps off the bed to go sleep in his bed on the floor. His bed looks just like yours, except it's red... His bed is his safe place. Maybe that's her safe place too? It's never been a punishment area, just a place for him to hang his little head. |
OMG Gen - How cute is Monica? She is a doll. Must be used to a crate - not so terrible... love her face! :luvu: |
