Male or Female? Hello everyone-- I am new here and appreciate the help. I hope to purchase our first yorkie in the next several months and just trying to get all the info I can. I am trying to decide between a male or female. My mom has a yorkie female who is 3 right now and would visit with her occasionally so they would have to get along. I know many said the opposite sex would work best but thought I would collect some opinions. Oh, by the way, my moms dog is an absolute sweet heart. Thanks a bunch! |
I have had 2 female yorkies so far and LOVE them so much. I also like that you can dress them in pink and have bows on the topknot. But to be realistic every dog/yorkie has a diff personality so in the end it is for you to visit the breeder and get to know the dog before you purchase him/her. I have also heard that the opposite sex get along better but I am sure there is a thousand of yorkie members who will beg the difference. Good Luck with your pick :) |
its a boy I have a boy, I actually wanted a girl and then axel became ready so...I got him knowing he was healthy and came from a good breader etc. So its a boy. He is so kewl, he has the greatest personality (but iam sure they all do in there own way) he just got neutered today so I hope it dose not change him....I don't know if they run smaller but I have heard males do...but who knows...good luck with your choice, someday ill probably get a girl but for now this it it. |
Male or Female... I dont think it matters. I have a male and when I was looking for a yorkie I wanted a female, Well I fell in love with a male, so thats what I got LoL I think if you just start looking your heart will pick :D Just make sure they are healthy! Thats all that matters |
When you go visit a litter of puppies, I would just keep an open mind. A lot of people seem to prefer yorkie girls, but I am totally in love with my boys. I don't think gender has as much to do with a puppy as health and personality. Those two would be my key points when looking for a puppy to love. |
I agree with the others that you should let the personality determine which puppy you get. I was in search for a female when I found Couver, and I fell in love with him. I have read that the boys are usually more cuddly and the females are more independent. I have also heard that the males usually attach to the female in the household, and the females to the males. I'm sure it depends on the dog, but Couver sticks to me like glue, but also enjoys my DH. What is important is that you get a healthy pup :) |
I have three girls and two senior cats, my girls are very loving toward humans and other animals, they never have got into a fight between them:animal-pa forgot to mention they are spay. |
Hi I was looking for a little girl, but a little boy became available... He is so sweet and well behaved and FUN!:D I don't regret getting him one bit! |
I love my boys. For as long as I have own yorkies, my boys seem closer to me and my girls have always loved my husband more for attention. Boys are less likely to go through the harmone - attitude. My boys are always happy. Now I do have a girl that is real alpha and all the other girls in the house had better do as she wants. If I introduce a new girl, she is there watching her. She is a real lover, don't get me wrong. She was just my first and she knows it. As a pup, you would have never know how bossy she would grow up to be. She loves all human attention. She is a cutie. |
To me girl are more Sassy and boys are just Happy:) If I had to pick it would be a girl because I like that Sassy/bossy attitude. |
