pom/yorkie puppies i could use some help Happy Holidays everyone i have a quick question we were blessed with a pom/yorkie puppes on th 23rd .. I have been doing my reserach on weather the tails should be docked. All of the tails r straight not curled like pom babies. Should there tails be docked they have an appointment tomorrow morning. Thank you all advise welcome.:confused: |

I personally wouldn't dock them. It is done for aesthetics. There really is no reason why a dog's tail should be docked. (At least I don't think there is - if I am incorrect about this statement - someone please correct me). My own opinion. I think dogs look cute with longer tails.:D |

i have one and i have bred them before i have never docked the tails and mine arent docked BUT i asked clients that bought them and they preferred them docked but i dont see spending the money on docking tails. putting them through unnecessary pain and risk of infections |
I had the puppies tails docked when they were 3 days old and they Felt IT!!!! They had a restless afternoon and night. I don't think it's worth it. They look cute with tails also. I looked as they clipped one of them and it was terrible. If your puppy is older than the 3 days, I wouldn't do it. Jusy my opinion. |
It seems like I am always the unpopular opinion here, but I am a fan of docked tails. No necessarily good reason, except sanitary which is not necessarily a good reason. Ok, I just like the look of a docked tail. BUT, I will say that I think your puppies are too old to have it done tomorrow. I would never opt to do it on puppies over three days old. Never! |
the vet here do the tails b/w days 3 and 5 not before or after but i m not recommending doing it..theres no point unless you want that look and you want to spend the extra money |
Not knowing the age of your puppies, perhaps I shouldn't say this but here goes. If I was seeing a vet and they were willing to dock the tail and it more than 5 days old, I would be concerned with using this practice. A vet should take a stand when it comes to the animals welfare. My personal vet will not dock the tails at all, she also will not declaw. She refered me to a vet that will do it, since she and her husband has taken the no tail docking or declawing stand, he has also jumped on the band wagon, they did refer me to another office that will do it. He did state well if you don't dock the tails, no one will buy the pups!!!!What a help!! But I would be careful of using their practice if they dock older puppies tails. Again, just my opinion. |
