Treats How much treats do you guys feed your Yorkie a day in praising wise? |
I'd like to know what other people have to say about this, too. |
rewards I may be different but, I reward my furbabies with toys and praise. I worry too much about them "filling up" on treats. I can also say that our meal times are pleasant with them not being used to hand feeding( they are not beggers) I had to mention that after the holidays and being at a few different homes and everytime we were eating their furbabies were always looking for a handout. (That just bothers me) JMO |
Hm, I suppose it depends on how many tricks Jackson does in one day. We use Zuke's mini treats and they're only about 2-3 calories per treat and really tiny. On days when learning new tricks, I usually try to use real food like tiny tiny bits of hot dog (really small) or chicken. The Zuke's are great though. I'd guess on average he eats 15 little Zuke's a day, but if we don't do any tricks, it's WAY less. Like the past few days, he hasn't eaten any. |
I don't really use store bought treats. I use bits of cucumber or hard boiled egg whites. The cucumber would be about 2 slices/day. She only eats persian cukes, they are much smaller, so 2 slices is very little. Egg white, not every day, and only about 1/4 of an egg. The only store bought treats I buy are Yip Yaps, the breath mints. She loves them but they are expensive and I only give 1/2 piece and not everyday. For training, usually just her regular kibble. heh heh |

Treats Well, our puppies only get treats when I sit to try and teach them tricks...now, my hubby gives Jolie' and Gizmo treats when they bark too much...lol. I fuss but don't help. |

Brit, I've been wanting to order some Zuke's treats, and I think I am going to! Meg doesn't like any dog-food treat that I've given her with the exception of the Wellness jerky bites. Usually she just "works" for tiny pieces of cheese or other human treats. |
