What is the one... Misconception people have about your furbabies? People who hear I have 4 dogs first assume that my house is dirty or stinky. I know this because the first time they come over, I hear "OHhhhhh you can't tell you have 4 dogs, your house is so clean"! Then they see my babies and say "OHhhhhh your dogs are so beautiful and clean... They don't smell like dogs". What in the world did they expect I wonder? |
If these are people that don't have any pets they will assume that even if you tell them you have a pet rock...lol :yelrotflm |

I agree. I have 4 and my house is clean. Maybe because it doesn't have that dirty big dog smell!!! |
agree I have to agree to this as well. We can have a clean house and 4 furbabies at the same time... They get baths also... LOL |
I can only imagine what people think when I tell them we have four cats and one dog and Jack (our yorkie) is potty trained in the house. LOL They must really think we are filthy. Actually for four cats and a dog, our house smells pretty clean too. The one misconception I get is that Jack is yappy. Which is so not him. He will bark on occasion but is not a yapper. :) |
I think the biggest misconception is always that yorkies are yappy. I think for the most part people think that small dogs are all yappy. Bubbles is very quiet other than when she is playing like a maniac and having a game of chase with my kids and nieces and nephew. |
Ughhh Yes, I get that all the time when they hear we have 5 dogs!!! Aggravates me to no end!!! We do clean our house and train our babies....they are like us..CLEAN!!! |
I think people's biggest miconception about Meg is that she is without a personality and/or too small to have fun with. She is a tiny, tiny little thing, but she doesn't know it. She loves to play and meet other people. |
I hate that people always assume because you have a dog you have a dirty house! We've never had a problem keeping our house clean & smelling good. But I did date a guy who's mom had 2 or 3 big dogs (I don't remember what kind they were) but she just let them poop in the house and then if she didn't feel like cleaning it right away she would just throw a towel down over it. Sometimes it would sit for days. And the horrible thing was is she wouldn't allow us to wear shoes in the house! Now that was STINKY house! |
The biggest misconception I hear over and over is...Ankle biters!! All my friends and family call my yorkies and Biewer's "ankle biters, and noise makers". Well, I will give them the noise maker part, as my crew certainly can make some noise on occasion. :p However, ankle biters they are not!! They are the sweetest, most people orientated pups in the world. |
Over here its the popular misconception yorkies are snappy, unfriendly dogs. Also at the moment thet assume they're purse dogs who never get to walk. Even vets have been surprised at how frienly my dogs are and most people are shocked my two little ones get one hour walking a day. |
some do My daughter has 4 beagles and her house will smell bad if the dogs have been brought in. I think it's because they are outside most of the time. My Zippy is paper trained for inside and I change the pads after every deposit no matter what the consistency. My house does not smell bad. My mother has a larger yorkie who spends more time outside. She has more trouble with him bringing in an odor. |
well i have six dogs now with my boyfriend moveing in and the only smell i have is from justins dirty socks which by the way the dogs really really want to eat we have dogs of all sizes 5 8 10 12 15 42 pounds well i guess thats mostly small but the dogs still dont smell my big problem is people assuming chichi has been beat she dosent like strangers comeing at her from above so she shys away |
I have 6 so I know what you are saying. I also have white carpet and not a speck on it. I think most people are under the assumption big dogs, when they hear 6 yorkies most have a different opinion. I would rather have 6 yorkies than six small children anyday!:D |
I think the yappy one is a very common misconception people have. The biggest misconception I have heard recently  is that Sassafras is "just" a dog. No she isn't! :animal36 |
Maybe the rural area I live in has something to do with it, but I get slammed with all kinds of misconceptions over Maddie. A few are that I must not care about hygiene b/c I allow her to sleep in my bed, give me kisses, or kiss on her. Another is I am crazy or silly b/c I spend more time researching her products than mine, take her everywhere I go, buy her clothes, and yes am a YT member! When I explain to someone about this site, I usually get a laugh and a eye roll. argggg |
I hate to say it but people's misconception about my dogs comes from their misconception about me.... They think I only "put up" with the dogs for the sake of the kids. At one time in my life they would have been right , BUT at that time in my life I knew that about myself and thats why we DIDN'T HAVE ANY pets !! They are shocked  ( <--- literally , thats what they look like) when they see me enjoying and loving my pets . Don't get me wrong , it's not that I really hated animals , I just didn't want them around me personally :p I didn't want to take the time required to properly train and care for them when I had younger kids , so I was trying to be responsible and not bring in a pet that wouldn't be cared for....but everyone just assumed because I didn't go gaga over puppies and was never an animal person ( and was afraid of big dogs) that I hated them all . People couldn't seem to get that while that I hated having animals around me alot , I didn't hate the animal itself. The second biggest I find is with Chloe. They think I must have wanted the " hollywood purse dog" and thats why I bought her. No , I did want a small dog but she takes walks with us and bikes with us and hikes with us ( well I do have a carrier for her if she gets tired) She was not bought just to get carried around in my purse :D |
