Well I used to have 8 at one time and looking back I dont know how I coped but I did, they were all groomed, fed and had their medical needs taken care of, but they probably didn't get enough exercise or one on one attention. I also didn't get to go away either as no way could I afford kennel costs and it was too much to ask anyone else to look after them.
Now I have just the 2. They play together, sleep together and sqabble like all siblings. I love walking them and they get lots of attention and I can affordtp spoil them.
I'm sure one day I'll get another, I thought it may have even been in the new year but part of me thinks that would not be fair. So I would say for me, right now 2 are just right.

ohhhh for me five is the perfect number !!!! I love my 5 and that is how i keep it! love them too much !!!!!! i would annoy one or two... kkkk... i need to share :)

I have 4 Biewers...my 2 girls that will always be with me...and the 2 boys I just rescued and plan to place. We are retired and our lifestyle is quiet when at home but we also travel and take a lot of day/overnight trips. When I picked up the 2 boys my full intentions were to place both of them...but...I'm falling in love with one of them! I know 4 is too much for us, our lifestyle and the size of our home but I knew having the boys here would be temporary until I get them placed...I really love little Peanut but 3 may be pushing it...and I already know 2 is a perfect fit for us. So, now I am at the crossroads...and I hate having to make this decision!

There are a lot of factors you have to consider, many of them have already been mentioned in this thead. The advice I would like to give you is to make your decision only after totally thinking and talking things through with everyone involved. You see...I have these 2 boys to place because their former owner thought she had the 'perfect' number of dogs in her home too but life took a turn and her dogs were the ones that got the short end of the stick.

Everyone has to decide what their perfect number is...good luck finding yours.

I do think two is a perfect number. Because I think it's good for dogs to have each other. I am sure I will add a 2nd one day but for now, Jackson gets out and about to the dog park often so he gets the doggy social interaction he needs. If/when I add a second, I worry about the same things... it won't be as easy to take two to family members houses, on vacation, etc. I really enjoy doing that too.

Hmmm, maybe I will stick with 2. I was going to add a 3rd in a year, but the responses to this thread are changing my mind.

We've had 2 yorkies at the most, but at a time we had a big dog (a lab) and 2 yorkies - that was PERFECT. I don't think I'd go more than 3.

Or...if you're feeling adventerous (and can handle it, financially and otherwise)...go by how many people are in your house! if you've got 5 family members, get 5 yorkies. that way you've got a houseful, but they don't outnumber you. Follow? ;)

We have two dogs , but only one is a Yorkie.

I always thougt zero dogs was the perfect number ( I was never a dog person in my younger years) Then we got Sydney and one was my perfect number ......until I discovered Yorkies....... then two seemed to be the new perfect number for us :D

I have one yorkie and then we added a 2nd dog. For hubby and for Gypsy to play with. Hubby is in love with his chi but Gypsy is not really a playful dog. So then I had to get Puff a playmate so here came Sophie. And they do play a lot. But (don't tell hubby) I am a little overwhelmed with 3. My lap is not big enough and a boston terrier is a lot more spirited than the other 2. So I guess 2 dogs should have been my max. I have told hubby I will never just have 1 dog at a time. And I know if anything happens to one of these I will prob get another pup after some time as I love dogs. So it looks as if 3 is my number. Does that make any sense?
BTW my mom has 7 dogs, 3 cats all inside.

I have 3 Yorkies and I had a pom until she passed earlier this year. I had been thinking of getting a 4th again and ended up fostering a pom and learned 2 things. 1. I do not want another dog and 2. I will never foster again. I have done fine with 3 but for the future as I get older and financial constraints, I think 2 will be out limit. That way we can take 2 with us when we go somewhere.

We have 4 dogs... 3 yorkies and 1 english bulldog. I LOVE all 4 of mine and looking to add one more Yorkie in a couple months. I wish often that I only had one so I could spoil it rotten BUT I have so much love to give, I don't think I would be happy nor could I settle with just one. I wont be adding any additions for a VERY long time once we add our pup in February.

I think it is a personal decision on how many yorkies to a house... We do not take vacations very often. Usually if hubby is gone on business, I am home and visa versa. The few times we did go out of town together, we had family stay at our home. No problem!

As many as you can LOVE, have room for, have time for, can afford (food, vet, preventitives, toys, clothed, etc...), and have energy for!! :) I hope someday I can have at least 3 or 4, now I just have to see if Missy agrees... :) she may be a one yorkie and that's it kind of gal. Hopefully socialization will help her want another furbaby around!!
