Unwrapping Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I was wondering do yall let your yorkies unwrap there own toys? I have always let Callie because my mom has always let the dogs we had when I was growing up. Well Callie always liked to rip the paper but u would have to open half of it and she would then rip the rest off well I had all of her toys wrapped and in an big bag so she wouldnt mess with them before Christmas and then today when we were all unwrapping presents I dumped her bag of wrapped toys in the middle of the floor and she went crazy opening them and tossing them it was so much fun to see exspecialy sense just the other day she was limping and in so much pain today she was my happy little baby. Of course now she is wore out but it was so awesome to see her so happy and lively. She never eats the paper and if she gets just a little piece in her mouth she will keep sticking her tounge out until it falls off or until mommy stops laughing and gets it off for her. |
That is sooooooooooooo cute! I will have to try that next year. My shichon likes shredding the puppy pad I put by the patio door for Toby. I'm sure if she smells goodies inside wrapping paper she will shred it up too! |
I think it depends on the dog. I chose not to wrap Daisy"s presents this year because we are having a little mailman issue that we are working on. The mail gets dumped through the slot and hits the floor and Daisy goes nuts and digs at the letters and scatters them around. Trying not to encourage ripping paper. But some dogs are fine with it. She did get to rip at her Christmas stocking, tho! |
Missy loves to open presents. Dora didn't open hers herself this Xmas. I have posted video on here before of Missy opening gifts. |
That sounds cute :) I don't want to confuse  Sophie though by encouraging her to do it one time and correcting her the next time so I avoid letting her shred paper. |
Last year when Alfie was only 6months I had to show and help him open his presents. This year he knew exactly what to do. Poor Rosie tried to get in on the act but he's a selfish little bugger and would keep running away with them. |
My 2 are paper, napkin, tissue shredders, so I used a little heavier type of foilish paper and wrapped their bullies and gave it to them. I knew they would be able to get them out and they did. lol I'll have to post the video when I get a chance. This is really the only type of "gift" I wrapped for them as I don't want to encourage them to tear up paper for a toy...they already tear up too much paper, lol. |
I don't want to teach Ella that it's okay to tear paper. We've had a problem w/ paper tearing in the past so this christmas and last she got a stocking filled w/ stuff and we let her dig her nose it to find the gift. I was cute, i got some pics. =] |
1 Attachment(s) It was Rio's first Christmas, so she didn't know quite what to do with her presents. Even though she usually LOOOOOOOVES to rip paper, she wanted nothing to do with her presents, so I opened them for her. I guess paper addiction is common in Yorkies! LOL! |
