Very Sad :( I was at a Pet Store yesterday I had to pick up some kibble for my pups This was not a shop I usually go to because they have a lot of exotic animals that I don't like to see caged up But when I went to the counter to pay I saw that they had a Yorkie in a cage Ugh ... a steel cage with no bed just water and he was shivering and crying I was almost sick to my stomach I hope beyond hope that someone will come and buy this dog to get him away from this I have to stop now because I'll get angry |
I know how you feel. I can't stand to see puppies and kittens in cages like that, so I don't go to pet stores that have them (I know not everyone has a choice, but I do, so I don't support stores like that). Birds and bunnies and Guinea pigs ... they all live in cages anyway, or at least "usually". The only time "my" stores have dogs and cats is during adoption specials. It KILLS me to see puppies in cages, even in pens. I know where they come from, and I know what happens if they don't get purchased. You're right: it's just so sad ... |
:( :( :( This makes me so sad... I'm far from Florida, but how much were they selling it for? |
If we buy it, maybe a rescue organization can save the poor baby? :( |
They are probably hoping someone will feel sorry for the poor little one and buy it. They will just replace it with another. Best to educate everyone you know and don't shop there. It makes me very very sad. |
Was it a puppy or full grown? |
how big was it? male? female? puppy? adult? I wonder if it is Cookie. |

I just read this thread. I am hoping the OP will reply. Miami is about 1 hr and 30 min away. But you never know. I am sending them a PM now. I really wish someone in Miami could go there and take a picture with a cell phone even... Gen |

What was the name of this store and Location?? I could call and ask about this yorkie. Maybe even ask an employee to take a cell phone pic and send to my daughter's cell phone... I sent you a PM Gen |

I know how you feel, but please do not do that. If you buy it it will only tell the petshop owner that he can make money and he'll simply replace that empty cage with another to sell. It's a vicious cycle. The only way to stop this is for people to walk away and not buy pups from these stores. Yes, it's hard but it's the only way to put these places and the mills these pups come from out of business. And, I would not buy ANYTHING food or otherwise from a petstore that sells animals. It simply keeps them in business. Elaine |

Gen, I'm sure it was a puppy. Petstores buy pups from mills to sell. Rarely if at all, do you see an adult dog for sale in a petstore. Elaine |
I will pray this is Cookie. |
Im pretty sure its a puppy also but I have seen once in a while much older dogs for sale . they give them a puppy cut and say its 6 or 8 months old and its more like a few yrs old. People always thought that Cookie was a puppy, even at 5 yrs old. The main petshops in Miami is PetLand. But there are several petshops in miami that I see in the Flyer paper always advertising.
