Breed Hi everyone, We just got a yorkie puppy on Thursday 12/17/09 from a friend that bought it for his girlfriend and he didnt know she was allergic to dogs. So he sold him to us he bought him from a local breeder came with all papers and shot records. We just found out today that the place he purchased got closed down the day after he purchased the puppy. Which means all our documents are worthless we have an appointment with our vet tomorrow to get him shots and current vaccinations since we don't know if hes had any now. He has been eating fine and going potty fine so far really playfull puppy. We took him in for a wellness friday and got him heartworm shot and flea stuff they weighed him hes 3lb and vet said looks healthy. Remind you this is before we found out he didnt have shots. He really have come to love our puppy we just want to know if he is a pure breed and how many weeks he actually is and how big he will end up getting. I will find out tomorrow at vet tomorrow just wanted some prior feed back from yorkie owners I posted a picture of him taken today. Thank You...:animal-pa |
Looks like a yorkie to me! A cute one at that. Good luck with Teddy (BTW our Teddy likes your Teddy's name) |
Teddy is very handsome. Welcome and congrats on the puppy. Why did the place get shut down. I am curious. |
Wecome to YT! Yes, he looks all yorkie to me too! |
:D Congratulations on your new little YORKIE :aimeeyork Teddy is a doll! Welcome to YT :D |
I would ask the vet again what he has given him as far as shots.. a HEARTWORM shot?? I never heard of a shot for heartworms. Was the place where they got him closed down because it was a MILL?? Your documents are NOT neccessarily worthless. You can contact AKC and check out the validity of the papers with them. |
Teddy So took Teddy to the vet today he has a mild case of Kennel Cough. He is 11wks old and 3.2lbs besides the cough vet said he is very healthy eating and drinking normally. The place was red taged to due health issues and sick puppies be transported in from other states and being sold. We have a follow up apt on sunday to get vacinations shots. We gotta see how he's gonna do on his meds first. He is such I good puppy and we our so in love with this little guy. hoping cough clears up.. Thanks everybody.. |

Hearworm shot, I thought they'd taken those off the market since dogs were dying when vaccinated with them.......where in california do you live that heartworm needed to be administered. The vet can take a teters test to see if his immunities to parvo, influenza, bordella are there. You need to be careful with over vaccination. |
Our friend that we bought the puppy from took him to the vet after he bought him just for a check up. And they gave him 1 interceptor and 1 frontline plus. Thats what the paperwork says. Don't know why he told me heartworm pills. I explained to our vet on sunday were we got him and were uncertain if he got his vaccinations or not. Since he is currently on medication theycan't vaccinate him till next week. Which our vet said she would check to see what he was given. The place were the puppy from was illegaly operaterating and was raided and all puppies were seized when we called the spca were the puppies were takin they said to take the puppy to your vet asap and to be honest I would disregard any paperwork that was given to you most likely it was fake. Like I said prior I just found all this stuff out on Sat. It's a big shock our friend was gonna just take the puppy back if we didn't want him. But we have already bonded with him and made him apart of our family theres no turning back now. |

Good for you.....love the pup and I pray he remains healthy and brings you many years of happiness and love. Your new pup fell into a pot of gold...... Follow your vets advice..... |
Easier way to give puppies meds? We currently have our Teddy on antibiotics for Kennel cough it has been a real challenge for us to take his pills. Is there an easier way to get him to swallow them?? Please advise. The vet made it look so easy. |
I hide Isabel's in a small piece of bread or wrap a little piece of cheese around it. Sometimes I can put some peanut butter on it and sometimes I just have to stick it way in the back of her throat and rub her neck until it is gone! You have to try different tactics! |
