spayed  I just had my 8 month yorkie spayed 2 days ago. my question is she seems to be dribbling her pee pee. does the bladder take awhile to settle down after surgery? she also had 3 baby teeth removed and her tiny ears cleaned out. she just wants to sleep alot. |
I've never had that happen before. I did some research and found this. Perhaps it will help???? Keep us posted. OK? Q: I have a four month old female Golden Retriever. I got her from a breeder at seven weeks old and since the day I picked her up she as always been dribbling urine. We put her on antibiotics because we thought she had a bladder infection but that did not work. About 2 weeks ago I took her back to the vet to have a urine culture done and the test was positive she had a bacterial infection. She has been on medicine for 5 days and she is still dribbling. I don't know what to do. What could this be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Corinne A: Hello Corinne, Bladder infections can take 3 weeks before they are cleared and you see a good response. If you go the full course of antibiotics and she is still dribbling, then I would consider some sort of anatomic problem - something she was born with. The passage of urine from the kidney to the bladder and from the bladder out is not going the way it should be. There may be an ectopic ureter, or urethral diverticulum - fancy names for the tubes that carry the urine in the body which may not have developed normally. These can be fixed with surgery - you should see a specialist who can perform a study with contrast material and see if this is the case. I would call the vet to give them a update! Let us know how she's doing. :) |
My two were spayed at 4 months and neither had this problem, I'd call the vet. |
