Birthday cake recipe anyone? Does anyone have a good recipe for a birthday cake that I can make for my little maltese who has a birthday on Friday? |
I don't have one but found a couple when I did a "search" on "doggie birthday cakes" awhile back. Hope this helps:) |
This one has never failed me. Even my pickest eater, Boo, will eat this cake. I usually don't do the frosting, you know long hair dogs and sticky frosting don't really mix well. :p And I make it in a cake pan instead of in the muffin pan. Apple of My Eye" Mini Muffin Poppers 1 large apple 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/4 cup oatmeal 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup vegetable oil 2 Tbs honey 2 eggs 1 cup grated cheddar cheese Mini Muffin Cups Frosting : One 8 oz package Neufchatel Cheese (low fat cream cheese), room temperature 2 Tbs plain yogurt 2 Tbs honey Directions: Preheat oven to 400° F (200 ° C). Core, slice and mince apple. Set aside. In a large bowl, mix together flour, oatmeal, baking powder, and baking soda. In a medium bowl, blend together the yogurt, water, oil, honey, and eggs, then stir in the apple and cheese. Add to the flour mixture and stir until mixed. Place mini muffin cups in muffin tins, and spoon in batter, filling each cup about three-quarters full. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean. Let rest in the muffin tins for a few minutes, then remove and set aside to cool. Frosting directions: Combine Neufchatel cheese (at room temperature), honey, and yogurt until smooth. Spread on muffins. Makes about 3 dozen mini muffins. If you prefer to make a single-layer cake instead, spoon the batter into a sheet pan and bake for an extra 10 minutes. |
Carrot Cake http://www.thepoop.com/pooppantry/im...ngredients.gif 1 large carrot or 2 small carrotshttp://www.thepoop.com/pooppantry/images/directions.gif *Preheat oven to 375* Combine dry ingredents in a large bowl. In a small bowl combine the other wet ingredents together. Put trhe batter in a small greased cup cake pan, for 15 to 20 min. Take out of oven to cool. Store in the fridge in an airtight container. For an extra treat you can spread some cream cheese on the top of a muffin when you sereve it. What I did was put a nice low fat cream cheese on and shaved carrots all over the top. I also baked it as a cake cause I had the pan. Picture: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...1/100_0238.jpg |
Peanut Butter Delight Dog Birthday Cake 1 cup white or whole wheat flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 cup peanut butter 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 cup shredded carrots 1 tsp vanilla 1/3 cup honey 1 egg Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a ring mold sprayed with a nonstick spray for 40 minutes. Frost this cake with low fat cottage cheese and decorate with carrot pieces. Store in refrigerator. |
My new favorite thing is a recipe from WeightWatchers. It calls for: 1 can pumpkin (16 oz or 2 cups) 1 Spice Cake Mix You mix these 2 ingredients together and put in a pan and bake as on the package. I tried it with a large can of pumpkin (29 oz) and it made 18 cupcakes. It wasn't as spicy, but very good and almost twice as much pumpkin! My Daisy loves pumpkin and I think this would make a suitable dog cake for a special occasion. Maybe a squirt of whipped cream on top to fancy it up! This is a VERY moist cake and does not need frosting. And even your skin guests could enjoy! I like them for breakfast! :cake2: :cake2: :cake2: :cake2: :cake2: |
thanks i am starting to plan my babies first bday party! any idea where I can find a dog bone shaped cake pan in a store? |
These are all great recipes, thanks! Stella's 1st birthday is in a couple weeks, so I'm sure we'll try a couple! |
I thought they weren't supposed to have wheat? |
I made a small "cake" for Prince, which he loved. Cake: 1 pound of ground chicken breast 1 cup of pure pumpkin (Mix and bake in a cake pan until done) Let cool to room temp. Remove from pan. Place on serving plate. Topping: 1 container of plain Greek yogurt 1 teaspoon of grated carrots 1 teaspoon of grated low-fat cheddar cheese After spreading the yogurt on the "cake," sprinkle with the carrots and cheese, for color. This freezes very well and is nice and healthy. |
Not sure if this helps but, I have an amish store where I live and they sell cake mix for dogs. You may look on the internet or check you stores to see if they have any dog cake mixes:p |
I am so glad that you posted this thread! I've snagged all the recipes :p Thank You! |
