My guy has turned into a monster..so upset. I have a newborn who is two months old. My yorkie has turned into a monster since he was born. He cries and barks ALL DAY. Everytime I pick up our son he rings the bell to go outside and when I go out he does not go to the bathroom. He just wants attention all the time. He is digging in the couch. Howls and scratches at the treat cabinet and walks around crying all day. I try my best to play with him and give him attention, but I can't take the crying and barking. What can I do? |
Evidently your yorkie is jealous. I guess I would try treating it as if it were an older sibling. make sure that the dog gets plenty of attention when you are not tending to the baby. Perhaps give him a chewie when you sitdown to feed the baby. I'm guessing he will eventually get over it. It will just take lot of patience. He figures he was there first and who is this little intruder anyway. |
Congratulations on your newborn! :) I don't have kids so I'm kind of useless here. I just wanted to tell you to have patience with your furbaby. He got all the attention before the baby and it's hard to have to share mommy. Give him time to adjust. Don't give up on him. Maybe taking him to obedience classes for a refresher (and alone time with mommy) will help him get back to being his usually adorable self. :) I'm sorry I can't be more help!! I wish you luck!! Hope it all works out! |

I feel awful becauseI love my yorkie and I said I would never put him second. Sometimes I yell at him so bad and then I cry about it. But he just does not stop, no matter what I do. And it stresses me out. |
I am sure this is a stressful time for both of you. Hang in there and it should work itself out. Perhaps he just needs a little more time to adjust. He obviously loves you very much and misses having all your attention. Hopefully he'll wear himself out pretty soon and realize you still love him, too. Good Luck. I hope this period passes quickly for you. Congratulations on your new baby.:rose: |

Congratulations on your newborn baby! :D Actually I'm thinking of this too...I'm getting married in a year or 2, my yorkie is now very agrressive (like yours) when my little niece and nephew came over to my house. But I've found out, eventually they will be fine, calmer once they know this is going to be permanent. Mybe you can let your yorkie smell your newborn's clothes, make her recognize the scent and familiar with it. |
