Yorkie brushes its' own teeth Ran across this today & wanted to share it with you all. Amazing! Scroll a bit to the left side bar short story. Out there this week - The Denver Post I just love Yorkies...all of em :) |
Wow!! That yorkie could do some advertising for CET or Petzlife toothpaste!!!! |
Woah! I never knew a dog could do it. I will definitely be trying to get mine to do that. :p |
haha. my yorkies won't even let ME brush their own teeth! That is one smart yorkie! |
Hahahaha, how I wish Sugar could brush her own teeth, she wouldn't allow me to do it either! |
How often are we suppose to brush their teeth??? |
That is pretty funny. |

Daily is best.:D |
I started 'brushing' Zoey's teeth early - 12 weeks old. I did this because I had heard they can have alot of dental issues and my breeder said she had a dog choke on a greenie. I must admit that the brushing is more her chewing on it but it does the same as brushing. Especially with the three-sided toothbrush. Sometimes I help her with pulling gently but for the most part, she does it on her own. :p Maybe the product has something to do with it? I use this Cain & Able Kissable (Vanilla flavor) one available at Petco: KissAble Doggie Dental Kit at PETCO I usually brush my teeth (electric brush) at the same time and she loves that. I have been considering switching to the electric one available at Petsmart (see below) however, I certainly do not want to jinx her already great habit. ;) Petosan Silent Power Toothbrush for Dogs - Health Care - Dog - PetSmart Her brushing has also helped with her current teething. When she gets a loose tooth, we go to brushing a bit and it helps to remove it so she is more comfortable. Hope this helps! :) |
Wow! Smart Pup!!!! |
I just knew you all would love it. I agree, brushing really turns into more of a differant kind of chew toy. Tuffy has lost 4 teeth this past week & I'm sure glad we got used to mom putting things (like my finger!) into his mouth; although I think the groomer would have preferred we hadn't done it. It seems Tuffy now wants to try to bite while he's getting fixed up  |

Can I use one toothbrush for my yorkies, or I should have separate ones? Also, I might get a maltipoo because my friend's mom no longer wants theirs. Do you think my yorkie babies will get along with him? |

Oh my... I am so new to this I have no expert advice to give. I suppose I would suggest having a different one for each as they may have different teeth/gum issues as time goes on but I really have nothing to base this on. Hopefully someone will respond on the toothbrush question and the potential new addition. Best of luck tho - sounds wonderful :) |
This is a great post for me. I have my yorkie two month from now and I don't know what product to use and how to do it. I was going to buy petzlife spray I read that with that you don't need to brush their teeth. |
