Please give me your advice! Hi all, As some of you know, I have been searching for a dog, and posting way too many threads I am sure, but this is serious, lol. Okay, I have been checking on this site for probably a month now and asking all kinds of questions. Well, there is only one puppy left and I think I might get it! It is $900 which is a little more than I had hoped for but the best I can find. She lets her puppies go after 10 weeks, which is also better than the 6-weekers I've found. She has answered all my questions and has a photo album on her page with pics and comments from past customers. I am impressed but I can also be foolish so please give me your opinion on this. $900 is too much to waste so I want to be sure. She also gives a 1 year health guarantee. http://www.honeycreekkennel.com/index.html The only thing I don't like is she breeds 2 other breeds, but they are also small breeds so that has to be better than the ones that breed 7 diff. kinds of all sizes. Thanks, I really appreciate any help! Sarah |
If I were looking for a pet quality yorkie, I wouldn't purchase this one. For $900, its APR registered. I don't like the breeding of three different types of dogs either. Of course, this is just my opinion and what I would do. Good luck. |
This may be a stupid question, but what is APR registered? |
hmmmmm I wonder why she is not AKC? She has very cute puppies, but I think all puppies are cute. Did you go see the puppies? I think we need the advice form some of our great YT Breeders. I hope they catch your post. :) |

I don't think there are any stupid questions. If you don't ask, you will never find answers. I have no idea what APR is.... hmmmmmmmmmm Good Question! :) |
I think the baby is beautiful. Her weight will be a good weight...not to big...not to small. If you like the breeder and she has answered all of your questions, she should be fine. I know several breeders who breed more than just one breed of small dogs. $900.00 is not a bad price. You just have to feel good about it. Again, the baby on the site is adorable!!! Joy |
There is a lady in Girard, ks that has a female for $650 and one for $700. Dont know how far you want to travel but if you want her phone number just pm me. I am going to look at them tomorrow I will tell you what I find out. She is also a vet she seems very nice. |
Hmm, maybe it stands for...American Pet Registry or something? That is just my guess, but I still don't know what it all means.. |
I was hoping not to travel more than 3-4 hours, because I dont want the puppy to be too stressed out on the way home. I think Kansas would probably be about 6 hours away. |
Please let me know how it goes Staci! |
it is probably 5 hours. sorry. |
Hi Sarah - the thing I didn't like was multiple breeds...but what I DID like is that she didn't have many puppies - she listed each puppy and only had a few - if there were many yorkies I'd be more leery - I tried to do a BBB search but the site is down.....To me I think it's worth a look and you may just have found your puppy - I know how hard you've been looking I would go look if you are just wanting a puppy to love and not worried about papers - The puppies were very cute and looked hpapy in their pictures and if she's working with you and answering all your questions - go see the puppy !! |
I was thinking the same thing about her only having a couple puppies. She has a little section about how to take care of a puppy too, so this made me feel like she cared about them...I think this might be the one, yay! ttyl! Sarah |
I forgot to say that I did a search a couple days ago on the BBB and ripoff report and she wasn't on there! So that's a good sign. |

It doesn't hurt to LOOK and if you feel good about it - then maybe this IS it for you....I hope it is !! |
I think you can't really tell until you actually see the pup, the environment and the parents. If you feel comfortable with what you know, then I think you should check them out. Good luck. I hope you found your pup. Please keep us posted. |
America's Pet Registry, Inc. has yielded to the requests of numerous breeders and pet owners to establish a registry service that can accept dogs with known parents but those that do not have documented pedigrees at this time. Until now, APRI has been unable to register many dogs from other registry services that do not have documented pedigrees. With the establishment of American Pet Records the same great APRI service is available to those who have begged APRI to accept their dogs for dual registration. The American Pet Records dogs will not be entered into the APRI database but will be recorded separately. An American Pet Records dog may be mated with an APRI dog; however, the litter will be issued as American Pet Records. Litter pedigrees will not be offered on these litters, nor will pedigrees on the American Pet Records dogs be available at this time. Litter registration fees will be same as with APRI. The normal registration fee with American Pet Records is $20.00, but registered breeders will be charged only $10.00 for registration. Breeders may register with either APRI or American Pet Records. For more information, please contact the APRI or American Pet Records offices. The same courteous and knowledgeable personnel will be available. American Pet Records 10509 S & G Circle Harvey, AR 72841 http://www.aprpets.org/main/index.php Here you are... :) |
I thought her pups were cute, but I am a little weary of her being from Missouri, it is known as the puppymill state. Her contract was also fair as well especially to the buyer. |
She looks so cute, if you feel comfortable with the breeder and you like this little cutey then go for it. The price is not bad. Just be sure to take her to the vet right away and get a clean bill of health. As far as being APR registered. This only matters if you are planning to show your dog. I bought my dog on a spay/neuter contract. I had her fixed but I never bothered registering her at the AKC.. I don't see the point. I wasn't going to show her and getting her papers wasn't going to make her anymore loveable than she alread is ;) |
