Rafa Nadal I ALWAYS wanted a Yorkie and said...if i ever did get a Yorkie I'm naming him after my obsession Rafa Nadal...for those of you that don't know who he is...he's a professional tennis player that will make you melt! haha When people ask me where did i get the name Rafa...i just make it easy on myself and i say i named him after my husband...yes i know, i wish :p |
Our baby was named after 'Thomas J' on the 'My Girl' movie. When we first got Thomas..he was tiny..sick and wormy. I said he looked like Thomas J.. Now he is happy..healthy..and 13 pounds. |
Our boy Clarence was named by my Mum...he was her pup until she passed away. Keegan was named for his personality...Irish for little firey one. Sweet Sophie, my resuce, came with her name...of course, when she is BAD she becomes Sophia Lousia! |
Love these stories! For me, its what I feel and what their personality reveals that first day we meet :) AprilLove, when I first held her, she smelled like the month of April, (even though it was in March, we had warm weather that year) and well, I completely fell in love with her :) Nappys' (Nickname) kennel name was Napoleon and I added the rest because he was sooooo happy and sunny (orlando) in his disposition.. Napoleon Orlando HappyPants :D CandiRoze FannyPants.. She was easy, lol Sweeter than Candy and pretty as a Rose :) and my baby, the youngest--fannypants :D |

When we decided we were getting a boy- well I decided- we started the name game and finally half settled on Alfie after I went to choose him at 4 weeks as he was small and when put back with his bigger brothers he started trying to beat up his biggest brother. When I went to pick him up to take home his breeders daughter asked me what I was naming him so I told her. Immidiatly he went from shaking slightly at the new experience to attacking my coat so it looked like he approved. We picked Rosie after the dog in a book I was Reading, we'd been discussing girl names before we knew we were getting another and then my mom piped up she wanted a girl to name Rosie, and it fits her so well. |
My husband chose our dog, but he also picked out the name Derby. When he met Derby he was the biggest and most playful one as a puppy. He was running around and a lot of the others were still very quiet and calm. So when he came home to our place we had a few name ideas, but my husband said "What about Derby?" meaning he's as rambunctious and hyper and "rrraring to go" as someone in the Kentucky Derby. And we're CANADIAN lol Now his nicknames are: Derby, Derbylion, Derbsters, The Derbs... |
When we 1st saw Tuffy he was in a playyard with 3 maltese pups who were all asleep. Apparently though, our lil guy wanted to play so he pounced on em & tugged tails until one after the other woke up to play. One of the maltese was a wee bit bigger than him & sorta did this shoulder nudge thing & in response Tuffy butt bumped him!:D My DH looked at me & said if we get this pup his name'll be Tuffy. I added the Sir after we got him since I feel the Yorkies are all royalty. |
Once I figured out I wanted a yorkie a few years ago one day the name Riot popped into my head. I really have no idea where it came from...he was named years before the was born lol! Once it came time to actually find a breeder and get a puppy, I just fell in love with a little guy the breeder had named "Deeker" and Riot just fit him perfectly!!! |

My hubby is a Marine and when he said he wanted a baby boy (we have two little girls) I cartwheeled into the next door neighrbor's yard and bought him a boxer puppy... lol he named him Tank. (he is huge and clumsy so the name fit!) When we moved and we got our Yorkie baby boy:aimeeyork, I named him Ares God of War, because I love Greek mythology, and Ares from Xena was hot!:p lol |
I knew I wanted a human name and I had a long list of super girly names. It seriously took my almost 3 weeks to pick a name and stick with it! lol Gabriella was the first name I liked and I love it because it is beautiful and girly. I LOVE the name Jadyn/Jade for her, but everyone I told it to didn't seem too fond of it, so I used it as her middle name. I do still call her Jade occasionally though. I think Ella is super cute for her. :) She was also Gia, Mia, Sophia and Bailey for a bit... To name a few lol. |
When my fuffy (not a typo, I call him fuffy, not fluffy, lol) little guy came to me, he was scrawny, matted, dirty and smelly, but he was very sweet. After I got him bathed and de-matted, I saw that his hair was a gorgeous silver and gold color...Like a little suit of armor. He is my littlest knight in shining armor...Sir Galahad. :) I'm very much a believer that a pets proper name will come to you if you just listen, hehe. |
I didn't name my dog at all lol! I <3 the yorkie name lore lol! No one wanted me to get a dog, but I was determined. I finally found a little sweetface puppy and fell in love. I kept telling my friends and family about him and they asked me what his name was. On the site it said Harley so I told them that but I was going to give him a "better" name once I figured out his personality. Once I got he dog (that they didn't want me to have) they IMMEDIATELY fell in love with Harley, kept asking about Harley, tweeted about Harley, wrote on my fb wall about Harley, texted me about Harley, called me all hours about Harley Boy. No matter what I did--I COULD NOT change this dog's name. To think! They didn't even want me to HAVE a dog and then they wouldn't even let me NAME HIM because they loved him so much! People! LooooL! |

My mum was really mad at me when I first brought Sugar home, but the 2nd morning my mum just felt so in love with Sugar, and she decided to give another name to Sugar...she called Sugar "Happy".:eek: I tried to stop mum from calling Sugar "Happy" but my mum said Sugar looks very happy when she call her "Happy". I just didn't want it because it's not really a "name". But she insisted so... ;) It's good knowing they love your furbabies, never mind the names! :D |
