Yes, ytsirk27, I think it was probably just miscommunication. I don't think anyone meant to hurt your feelings they just want you have an idea about what you are getting into. Please stay with us and learn as much as you can! Alot of people are thinking the same as you, but are too afraid to ask about it. I have a pair of unaltered Yorkies and have been agonizing over the decision to get Pippa spayed and Scout neutered. I have a wonderful tight knit family and 2 ladies in my family want a Yorkie. They keep asking me if they can have a pup from Pippa and Scout because they are such great dogs. I just can't answer....I don't want to jeopardize my babies, but at the same time I know if I have pups, they will only go to people I know. I know these ladies will also have the means to pay whatever it takes for the vet bills, etc-so the money is not really the issue. My whole hang up is the safety of my little girl who is only 4 pounds. I guess I will keep thinking for a while, however I am taking under advisement all the things the very knowledgeable and long-time breeders on YT teach us and heed advice of people who know. :) |

The problem with this forum like all others is that you can not hear a tone of voice. All we have to look at is words. We write things with good intentions and they are taken the wrong way by both sides. You will find that 90% of the people here are good people who do not want to hurt another persons feelings. Sometimes some of us feel that a certain group will ask questions in a attempt to yank the chain of some members. We have a group here who like to cause pain and fighting and do not care who gets hurt in the process. You will soon learn when to stop, drop and crawl when caught in the crossfire of one of those battles. Some people whould argue if you said the name of the forum was Yorkie Talk. You do not need to feel sorry about anything. Many of us posted cause we did not want you to get into a finacial situation in which you, your two legged or four legged family would suffer. For example whrn I talk money it is not to be the person to scare you from breeding cause I want to breed all those puppies myself. I want you to be prepared that if something goes wrong in the middle of the night you have the funds to take your baby to the vet and get the medical care needed. I do not want it to sit at home because the care is not in the persons financial budget. I know of breeders who let a bitch die because they were not going pay $1,500.00 for a c-section at the emergency animal clinic in the middle of the night. They waited until the next morning for thier vet - when the cost was cheaper. I have been intoducing my new clients to yorkie talk- I show them the threads posted by some of these folks and it is good for laughs. By doing so I am hoping that they will not get hurt feelings when they get the nerve to join and ask questions or post. Helps them to understand that a lot of people are just blow hards. No matter what the subject they know all the answers. There are a lot of caring good people here- who care about you and the breed. |
Thank You all! and i do apologize for my attitude..your right you cant hear ppl's voices so...:) I just want to give ppl a great dog. I personally bought Mason for 500.00..and hes an excellent dog and was also from a vet...so maybe thats why i got him that cheap....i dont know. I just want to beable to do something good but also to keep the standard up...Thank you for relpying and as of leaving...I did plan on it...but you guys would miss me too much !!! LMAO :p |
Hahaha...thank god u're modest. But really, don;t leave because of misunderstandings like this. BTW i have a lab and she is just as precious as my yorkie:) |
breeding If money is no object, then enjoy yourself and I know the new owners will be thrilled. Most people do not have a blank check and need to cover at least part of the vet expenses if they plan on breeding more then once. We know many people who have bred a couple litters for family and close friends and given the pups away..heck, there was nothing I loved more then having a couple litters at once, then I could give one or two to family or close friends...RiniW does the same thing. I can not afford to do it with all my pups, but if you can, that is wonderful. |
oh im not rich by anymeans..:) just want to do something nice for ppl thats all. I know the expenses for it....vet checks all that good stuff.....if i have to lose alittle money or break even to do so..thats ok..but oif course id have to keep one for myself LOLOL.....I hope nobody is offended or thinks im awful. Im really not, just a nerve got hit! |

IMO if you do not want to better the breed, why breed, there are already so many dogs out there who need homes and can't get one because there are so few to take them in. |
I'm really sorry if you think something I said was out of line. I did not know you were already a breeder. So I guess you know what it takes. I am not a breeder, and my heart really goes out to the people who are. I would just feel so bad if I bred Princess and things didn't go well. I have read many posts on this site, and it just seems like many things can go wrong. That's a chance I'm not willing to take. Not at this time, as the only thing I know about breeding is you need a male & female, and the female needs to be in heat. That's not enough information for me. So, I'll leave the breeding to the people who know about it. I do think it's great you want to help people get Yorkies. I'm doing the same thing for my neice. I told her parents I would get her a puppy, and pay for all the vet bills and food. She is going to have the puppy of her dreams, because she has a Aunt who really loves her. I hope you have a wonderful day! :) |

I am just going to answer honestly based on everything I've read on this board and elsewhere. Yes, I'm sad to say that people will probably think that something is wrong with your pups. Its very sad that people would think that, but I believe its true. Some people who have Yorkies have them for STATUS and the more they paid for their Yorkie(s), the happier they are. I got Stewie for a surprisingly low price. My breeder knew that I loved him and wanted me to have him, so he lowered the pirce and gave me a break in another repsect. I would never consider you a backyard breeder (hate that term by the way) if you did your research, bred to standard, gave a reasonable guarantee on the puppies and did some necessary testing on the parents & pups. I do see what you mean and I hope I helped. Kristy |
:)..i got to get a female first but it'll be awhile! I seriously dont know if I buy a female if ill even beable to breed her....males are different cause all they do is stick in and out ! LOL I love Mason but he cant die from it as a female can so i dont know! Just wanted opinions! :) Im not mad at anyone here......:) have a great day!! |
