Do Bully Sticks go bad?
 
I bought bully sticks for Bailey and he is taking forever to chew one. He has been on the same one for weeks now and barely a dent. He doesn't seem to be as crazy for them as he does his porkhide twist, and I'm diappointed because the BS is better for him. Maybe he is a slow chewer, because even with the porkhide he barely makes a dent, he just chews and chews and hardly gets anywhere with both the pork and the bully! So do these products go bad?

Hi Darlene...when Apple was an only furbaby, she used to have the bully sticks forever...She chewed on them, everyday, but not for that long...However, when little brother came, it became a huge issue, and I can't keep them in stock :eek: But in answer to your question,you say he's had one for weeks, w/no ill effects, and Apple used to have them laying around forever w/no ill effects...Some ppl, on here, seem to think you need to take all kinds of care w/them, but I never had any issues w/this...He's so tiny, you'll just have to be on the hunt for the thinnest bully sticks available..Maybe someone else w/a really small baby will have some suggestions...Your little boy gets more adorable every day...What a cutie patootie....

I've never had any issues with them going bad. I've seen some people recommend to wash off the chewed sections and refrigerate between chew times but I've never bothered. He's such a little guy I'm not a bit surprised that it takes him so long to chew one. I'm jealous - they don't last long around here and they're expensive! :p

Thanks so much for the response! I have put the rest of the bully sticks in the fridge, They well probably be there years at the rate Bailey is going now. I brought some over to my bf's dogs, the Jackabee couldn't care less for them, but his other dog, a bigger mutt, wolfed it down in no time flat! Yes, I think Bailey just has a tiny mouth and I need a smaller chew:)

That is probably it, his mouth is so tiny, Sometime he wants me to hold the bully stick for him and he chews and chews, my hand starts to get tired:p I guess it saves me $$$ so that is a plus!

I never had any problems with the bully sticks going bad,, i usually
buy i bulk ,, i keep them stored in a sealed bag.. Lexi usually takes a week to finish one.. they are 12 inches long.. once they get to around 3 inches, i throw them away
