The Little Brown Dog, a touching true story In this time of thinking about Christmas miracles, I have been following a local story I feel led to share it here with fellow YTers. Many near Knoxville, Tn probably know the story behind The Little Brown Dog. For those that don't... get ready to be touched. 45 year old Jimmy Lovell dragged the little 17-lb. terrier mix dog of his girlfriends behind his truck for miles, people screaming and running after him, telling him he was dragging a dog. When he finally did stop, he grabbed the little dog, yelled and cursed at the witnesses, people who were concerned for the dog’s safety, tossed the injured dog in the truck and took off. The dog was later found tossed and abandoned like trash on the road, near death, a trail of blood near the dog. (What a fighter, she survives!!!) (Keep reading, it gets better.;)) The dog's injuries included skin wounds, ligament wounds, joint wounds and bone wounds on all four paws, but she also had a large wound over her sternum or over her breast. Some of her bones had been sheared, so to speak, so they were only half the width of what they once were because they’d been ground down to that extent. http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/wp...-Brown-Dog.jpg Little Brown Dog was taken to the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine to be treated for her horrific injuries. This is thier latest update posted on December 7, 2009: -Your generosity for Little Brown Dog's medical care has been heartwarming! Current estimates for her medical care are between $7,000 and $7,500 barring complications with her skin graft procedures. Thank you for your donations that have almost reached $13,000, enough to cover her current expenses and subsequent spay (once she is recovered, of course!) We have received calls, letters, donations, and well-wishes from across the country, and even Canada. Clearly, Little Brown Dog has captured hearts! http://www.vet.utk.edu/news/images/2..._photo%207.jpg Trial for this cruel disgusting man has been set for December 11th. He is being crarged with a felony animal cruelty charges. UPDATE: Man charged with dragging dog in Knoxville LITTLE BROWN DOG (updated 12-07-09 p.m.) The Little Brown 'Wonder' Dog http://media.graytvinc.com/images/WVLT+Dog+dragged.jpg |

OMG!!!! how sad.... poor thing... I wish someone would chain this guy to a car and drag him!!! this guy is disgusting!!!!!! |
Wow, it is amazing that she survived!! I do not understand some people... what was going through his head when he was doing this to a poor, defenseless being?! |
what a sweetie :( "People" (word used loosely) should be penalized for abuse to animals. This POS who did this should be hanged.:( Thinking of you, Beautiful Little Pup :animal-pa:animal-pa |
That man is an a$$hole and a POS! I'm so glad the dog survived. Poor little girl. I can only imagine the pain she must have endured. Wishing her a speedy recovery. |
Way jail him, then we get to foot the bill. Tie him to the back of a pickup truck, take off, when he's dead throw him on the side of the road! That's about all he deserves. What an adorable brown dog. Her guardian angel must have been watching over her. People are amazing. I don't consider this person any where near human! |
Wow what an amazing story! I am so glad the poor thing survived! As for the guy, I will keep my mouth shut on what needs to be done to him, I was taught, those kind of words never come from a ladies mouth! |
Hmmm :hmmm33:, Knoxville could make a ton of money for the care of homeless & abused animals by selling raffle tickets to allow the winner to drag this man behind a car or truck.:D Some humans are unusually cruel & then there's us Yorkie owners. Sherry |
Little Brown Dog looks like she is in control of her life...too bad the butt hole who hurt that precious thing isn't! MHRIH |
