Do dogs laugh/smile? Sometime I swear that I see my baby smiling. But do dogs laugh? My little nephew asked me this yesterday and I didn't know what to say. |
The folks are going to come along with their pictures soon, and good, cause I love those....but I also saw some research recently that THEY recognize facial expressions in their people, and they DO know the difference when you are smiling or not. |
I don't know if they laugh or smile per say, but I definitely believe they communicate through body language and noises and of course, tail wagging. So if that is their way of smiling or laughing, then I believe yes they do. I am not a big fan of giving animals human emotions, but I beileve they have emotions specific to dogs and we get to interperate it however we like. :) |
I believe that they do indeed smile, I have several different pictures of Rocky where I swear it is a smile on his face, some were one right after another, Ill post soon!! |
My Jack smiles all the time. |

They definitely do smile and sometimes I wonder if they are laughing when they smile really big at something in an appropriate way. Our Megan will smile when you say 'Moo, did you burp?' she smiles so big you can see her molars! Megan and Maddie both smile when we come home or when we get up and see them first thing in the morning so I know they are glad to see us. Their Dad is a big smiler so they got it from him. The new little guy we have, Peanut, is also a smiler...but his face is so tiny that you can't see his eyes when he smiles...it cracks me up every time! I have never got a picture of Moo and her big smile but I will try to... |

1 Attachment(s) Hmm... that didn't work for some reason. Let me try again. GRRRR... I dont know why this isnt working. My picture is not showing up. |
They absolutely smile .... google "submissive grin." My previous yorkie, Loosie, would smile on command. It started with her doing a normal submissive grin, which usually is just the lips pulled open and the teeth showing. I would always respond to it by calling her a "smiley girl" and giving her more attention. As time went on, the smile became more and more pronounced, with her lowering her head, cocking it to the side, and opening her mouth up wide. Just talking to her about smiling would set her off, and she knew that was a sure fire way to get attention when she wanted it. My new pup smiles when I've got her on her back, rubbing her belly. It isn't as pronounced as Loosie yet, but I bet we'll get there before long. |
1 Attachment(s) Let me try this one more time, please forgive me for triple posting mods!!! |
