What age is ok to go to groomer? One of my babies will be 5 mths this week. He is starting to look scruffy. At what age did everybody take their baby to the groomer for the first time. Were you happy with the results. I love the way he looks he just needs to be trimmed a little (I think). I can brush him all day and 5 mins later he looks a mess. He refuses to let me put the top knot in. He doesn't have a lot up there anyway. His hair is very straight. |
My little girl in 5 months and she had her first grooming this week. She had a bath, trim, nail were filed smooth, ears cleaned etc. She didn't really love the experience but I want her to get used to being groomed. I brush her everyday but she really needed a trim. My groomer has a truck and comes to my house. I'd be afraid to leave her anywhere. |
We took Harley at about 4 months. Took him to meet the groomer first and then went back a week or two later for the bath, ears, nails, etc. He did great - made sure to have treats in the car after the grooming. :) |
We too Pixie this weekend to the groomers and she is 4 months. I held her while the groomer cut her nails and trimmed her face and ears. She also trimmed the fur on her pads. She was so good and the groomer said to do this a few times before she gets the full treatment. I liked staying there with her just bc I didn't want her first expierence be a bad one. |
The groomer I took Maddie to first didn't want to see clients under 6 months, so I waited until then. |
I'm so glad you posted this question. I don't want to hyjack your post, but I have the same question. Like you my little one (girl) is five months old and I'd like to have her trimmed up a little. I'd like to have just her ears tipped, and her butt and feet done. I want her top knot to grow out so I can put a barrett in it. My issue is she's tiny. She's just hitting 2 lbs. Elaine |
Rio went to the groomer at 5 months - my vet said as long as she was up to date with her bordatella shots (to prevent kennel cough) she would be fine. I found a groomer that owned her own little shop and was able to do a nice, gentle one-on-one groom for her first time and even let me stay to watch. Now Rio's a pro! Lately we've been using a mobile groomer that comes to our house and has a completely functioning grooming van. Love the convenience and total one-on-one service. |
i had this same question, I was told that they must have all their shots first, but that's all I know |
Thanks for all of the replies so far. I look forward to hearing more information. I will talk with my vet and my local groomer. I'm just so nervous. |
Jackson was 4 1/2 months old. |
